50. Violent Night, Harbour’s Delight

12 Days Pod

What’s up, dudes? It’s a Marvel Comics Christmas with AA and CM Chuck from Just Another Friday Night! We’re talking the Outback era of Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri’s X-Men run! Yes, it’s Uncanny X-Men #230!

The X-Men defeated the Adversary and the world presumes them dead. In truth, they’ve taken over the Reavers’s base in the Australian Outback. Having ousted the cybernetic former tenants, Storm, Havok, Rogue, Dazzler, Psylocke, Wolverine, and Madelyne Pryor test the defenses of their new headquarters. Meanwhile, Longshot explores the lower levels and discovers the hidden stolen treasures of the mercenaries.

The psychometric feedback puts Longshot in a coma, and, after a quick recovery, the X-Men resolve to secretly return the loot. Using his powers, Longshot senses the owner of each item, and with the help of the native mutant Gateway, the team deliver the objects via teleportation. Oh yeah! and it’s Christmas Eve! They even run into children waiting for Santa’s delivery and their former proteges the New Mutants Christmas caroling. Dazzler ends up with a motorbike for her troubles, and Rogue gifts Gateway a wooden flute.

Caroling in a snow storm? Check. Cleaning with weather powers? Yep. Pretending to be Santa’s special helpers while delivering presents? Definitely! So grab a stolen locket, psychically determine it’s owner, and teleport into this episode all about Uncanny X-Men #230!

Christmas Cousins

In today’s episode, my guest is Ken Smith from the North Pole News Dispatch! He’s made his way down from Santa’s village to talk to us about his Christmas memories and stories, his podcast, Christmas PJs (No pictures available, sorry! LOL!), and of course – the weather!

While Ken was reflecting on how Christmas has changed for him over the years, I realized that was a good title for the episode. We both talked about things that have changed, and things that remain the same. But even though how we celebrate might change over the years, one thing remains the same: Christmas is best celebrated with your friends and family!

A Cozy Christmas'

Boo!  It’s spooky season for our Christmas podcast.  This episode we have Pastorela, and it is devilishly good.  It is the appropriate holiday film for October as it features demons, an exorcism, and an epic battle of Good versus Evil.  What more could you want from a film that plays like a Halloween-Christmas crossover event, let alone the corruption, sex and swearing?  All that’s missing is an enema.  Merry Christmas!  Plus, we discover Mexico’s famous Christmas beer – Noche Buena, discuss Pastorelas and Posadas (and no, you don’t eat them), and we learn (and sing) about the famous decorated branches from Veracruz.  And, to make sure we provide you with enough shopping days, Bob mentions his December birthday.  It’s a Trick and a Treat!

Sounds of Christmas

Welcome to episode 91 of Holly Jolly X’masu! In this episode, I talk about the 2010 compilation, “Christmas Songs,” from producer Goro Ito.

I hope you enjoyed at least a few of the tracks on “Christmas Songs.” A few of them are real stand-outs and make this album one that’s worth tracking down.

Be sure to join me back here on November 1st for Christmas Podcast Day, which is the day a bunch of us Christmas podcasters release special episodes to kick off the season and encourage our listeners to check out some of the other great podcasts out there. I’ll be talking about one of my favorite Christmas specials, “Mister Magoo’s Christmas Carol.” It’s one you won’t want to miss.

As always, any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If have any suggestions, or if you’d like to recommend a song or album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know.

Remember, I’ve added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you’d like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. I’ve also opened a Redbubble store. I only have a couple designs up, but keep an eye on it as I’ll be trying to add more. Half of any proceeds or donations received will be donated to support the people of Ukraine, while the rest will be used to purchase new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And if you get a chance, leave me a review on iTunes. Thanks!
