Last month we shared 10 songs that were featured on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart in January 1986. Now we’re sharing our personal Top 10 songs from 1986. These tracks alternate between Rusty and Mike, counting down from 10 to 1, with a few other sound clips from 1986 mixed in along the way.

Notes:

• We tried not to double up bands, but with Run-DMC and Book of Love, it couldn’t be avoided. Sorry for hitting you with three Book of Love tracks in the past few months (including our 2025 Thanksgiving playlist).
• Shout out to Patreon supporter Kent for randomly sending me the Green “Gotta Getta Record Out” 7-inch in the mail one day a few years ago. Neither of us had heard that one, and it went right into my rotation after hearing it.
