Episode 179: Kazuo Umezu’s Horror Theatre: “Present” (2005)

The pumpkins are out, the leaves are falling, and there’s a distinct chill in the air. And you know what that means: It’s time for HOME FOR THE HORRORDAYS!

Every October we dig into the treasure trove of holiday-themed horror movies and this year is no different. On this episode, we’re discussing the Japanese horror anthology Kazuo Umezu’s Horror Theatre! More specifically, we’ll be looking at the fifth episode in this six-episode miniseries, simply titled “Present”. It follows a group of young people shacking up in a love hotel on Christmas Eve, who soon find themselves terrorized by a killer Santa! Ain’t that just the way?

Japan, as it turns out, is no stranger to the killer Santa phenomenon. We’ll talk all about that in this episode, as well as our requisite seasonal brews and gross holiday candy. I hope you like the sound of Joe talking with a mouthful of candy corn…
