Sounds of Christmas

Ken Kessler talks to Kevin McGrath about the pair of collections he’s put together to benefit the homeless charity Crisis UK. “Have Yourself A Merry Indie Christmas” is in two volumes, and each one contains fifty-four original songs! Kevin talks about what it took to get all these songs from so many artists and the guidelines he used. He also invites you click the Bandcamp links below and listen to some (or all) of the songs yourself. And while he’d like to take a break, he hints that a third volume is not out of the question (and he invites indie artists to reach out to him for details)!

Chrismas Morning

Hello everyone – today we are talking poetry. I have the amazing North Pole Poet Laureate with me today, Amy Marschak. She was named by Santa himself to spread Christmas cheer throughout the world by her improv poetry. That’s right – improv! So in today’s episode I talk to her about life as Santa’s poet, and then she kindly demonstrates her talent and comes up with several poems for me with just a few prompts. You will be captivated by her Christmas cheer! There is a video version of this interview on my youtube channel if you’d like to see the interview.

Gracie and I then get together and see if we can’t do some improv poetry too… it turns out it was a bit harder than we thought, but we had a lot of fun!

Welcome back! This week we are going back to a podcast favorite – covering ‘No Fat’ from Everybody Loves Raymond!

Home for the Horrordays enters extra innings this week as we finally tackle a little film called SANTA JAWS!

You see, it’s Jaws, but the shark wears a fun little Santa hat. Not surprisingly, this comes from the Syfy Channel stable of original movies, but somewhat surprisingly, this actually looks and feels like a real movie. Granted, that’s not much to hang our hats on, but we’ll take what we can get! Come join us as we discuss gross Mountain Dew flavors, how Santa Jaws stacks up to Regular Jaws, the shenanigans going on over at Twitter, and more!

Behind the Bells

“I Believe… it’s silly but I believe”

The holidays are upon us! And what a better way then finish our dive into Miracle on 34th Street. Now it’s time to see how Fox managed to get Macys and Gimbels to agree to use their names for the movie. Learn how the movie’s filming of the annual Thanksgiving parade would be the first time a lot of people around the world would see it.

Also learn how Maureen O’Hara was forced by contract to do Miracle, how Natalie Wood was already a pro actress at age 8 and Edmund Gwen was so perfect for the part that many of the children actors believed he was Santa. We also look into how Fox insisted on a Summer release… and it’s strategy would make it a bit hit.
