21 days until Christmas! (“Jingle Bells” Song Battle)

Chrismas Morning

🎄 It’s 1991, and Santa Claus is fighting with a talking dog over a park bench.

By some Christmas miracle, this obscure special was rediscovered over 30 years later. For years, people on the Internet tried to identify it on a TV in the background of an old family photo, until finally, thanks to the power of positivity, it was identified as “The Soulmates in The Gift of Light.” Join us as we meet the intergalactic Soulmates in what seems like a pilot that never got off the ground.

Top 5 Christmas Movies as Selected by “A Christmas Story” The Musical Cast

The mostly warm, fuzzy, cozy, sanitized Christmas is mainly a product of 19th and 20th century American influence. In earlier times, Christmas had a spooky side — one example of which is the Welsh tradition of the ghostly gray mare: the Mari Lwyd.

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy First Monday in December! We’re in the home stretch now, if you can believe that!

To mark the occasion, Santa Claus himself – Matt Spaulding of “North Pole Radio” – joins the “Tis the Podcast” elves this week to discuss the brand new, Disney Plus original holiday film, “The Naughty Nine“!

Anthony is on warpath in this episode, raging against modern-Disney movies and the ability of the child actors they continue to cast, pitting him against Julia, Thom, and Matt – who all really enjoyed the movie – in an absolute Battle Royale of a discussion!

What worked in this movie? What didn’t? And do all four hosts find any points of agreement during the discussion? You’ll just have to tune in to find out! Needless to say, this is one festive and fun episode you want to be sure not to miss!

So, settle in with your favorite holiday drink, relax, and enjoy! As always, thanks for your love and support, y’all! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

Tis the Podcast'

What’s up, dudes? I’ve got the amazing Thom Crowe from ‘Tis the Podcast with me to talk about the holiday classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” Shown throughout the ‘80s, the special was a staple during December, and has remained so.

In 1988, it was released on VHS, and according to the cover box:
“Dr. Seuss is back with his tongue-twisting verse and lighthearted music to delight children of every age. What holiday would be complete without this timeless tale of the mean-spirited Grinch and his feeble attempt to steal the Yuletide celebration of Whoville?

The crotchety Grinch with ‘termites in his smile’ and ‘garlic in his soul’ tries once again to wipe out Christmas for the cheerful Whos, only to discover the true spirit of the holiday season lies beyond his covetous grasp.

Narrated by the great Boris Karloff and featuring such musical favorites as ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’ and ‘Trim Up the Tree,’ Dr. Seuss’ ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ will warm the most miserly heart. Don’t miss this animated confection—it’s a perfect festival of fun for the entire family!”

Bingle balls? Check. Who flop fluff? Yep. Bizzle binks and wungs? Not sure what they are, but they’re here too! So grab your faithful sidekick pup, put on your Santy Claus costume, and sleigh right into this episode!

Closer to Christmas

Welcome to episode 96 of Holly Jolly X’masu! In this episode, I talk about Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio,” performed by the Meiji Gakuin University Glee Club at their 10th anniversary Christmas concert.

I really enjoyed working on this episode and getting this album. It’s completely out of my comfort zone so it was something of a challenge for me. I’m happy with how it turned out, though, and I hope you enjoyed it as well.

Join me back here next week for a real treat. I’ll be talking about the 1968 album, “Christmas Song / New Year’s Song.” If you like Now Sound music, it will be right up your alley. Then join me on the 18th for Kayo Ishu’s wonderful vocal jazz album, “Scat Christmas.” Then listen in on Christmas Day for one of the rarest, wildest Japanese Christmas albums you’ll ever hear, and stick around for an equally funky bonus episode on New Year’s Eve.

As always, any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If have any suggestions, or if you’d like to recommend a song or album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know.

Remember, I’ve added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you’d like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. I’ve also opened a Redbubble store. I only have a couple designs up, but keep an eye on it as I’ll be trying to add more. Half of any proceeds or donations received will be donated to support the people of Ukraine, while the rest will be used to purchase new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And if you get a chance, leave me a review on iTunes. Thanks!

Total Christmas

It’s a packed show for you boys and girls.

First up Bob Baker, our self-appointed podcast barman, looks at how us Brits use the word Diary.

Then it’s the quiz, and this episode trying his arm at the questions we have Adam Kennedy.  Adam has a comedy Christmas album that is well worth a listen so check it out here:
https://adamkennedy.bandcamp.com/album/literally-shrunk-down-and-living-in-my-christmas-village

Next up it’s Jack Ask and this time the question comes from our Scandinavian American correspondent Benji Pearson.

Then we have a joke from Benji.

After that we find out who won the ‘A Ghost Story for Christmas’ books by Biblioasis that we offered in the last episode.  Juno helps us pick the winner.
If you want to check them out, here’s a link:

and if you want to listen to Juno’s podcast check it out here:

Then Bob is back with Christmas Everyday with a wonderful tradition you can keep on your shelf and did into for a bit of Christmas nostalgia.
Have a listen to Bob’s podcast here:

This episodes version of A Christmas Carol is an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and, despite it being one of the loosest versions I’ve seen, it’s brilliant.
Ed Daly comes on and helps me discuss it.

Episode 96 – It’s Always Sunny At Christmas

Total Christmas

Hello everyone! Happy December – we made it to the Christmas month! Today, I have a special guest on the show. His name is Tyler Mitchell, and he wrote a new children’s book called “Double Trouble and the Upside Down Christmas Tree”. The book is based on a true story: “This is a Christmas story about a young family with three children, two of whom are twin toddlers who are experts at getting into trouble. This is especially true when it comes to their Christmas tree, prompting their dad to get creative and hang it from the ceiling to keep their little hands off it. The oldest son, eight, recounts the chaos that occurred before the tree hung from the ceiling. But does Santa deliver presents to homes with an upside-down Christmas tree?”

The book not only tells a fun story, but it also teaches kids the value of being helpful to their parents – especially around the Christmas season!

Tyler and I talk about his inspiration in writing this story as well as we chat about our favorite Christmas foods, movies, memories and traditions.

His book is currently sold out on Amazon and B&N, but if you go to https://store.bookbaby.com/book/double-trouble-and-the-upside-down-christmas-tree you can order it there, and use coupon code Save30 at checkout for 30% off!

It’s a beautiful day for a podcast, and this season of the Advent Calendar House begins with a visit to Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood in a Christmas special that hadn’t been available for more than 40 years until it resurfaced in 2022. It’s surprisingly less festive than some might expect, but it makes up for that with some extremely bizarre adventures.
