Merry Christmas you beautiful people!
We start the show by looking at the Winter solstice in the Southern hemisphere. Is there an equivalent of Christmas in June when the South of the globe has its shortest day?
Then Bob Baker our resident barman looks at Wellington boots in Do You Hear What I Hear?
There’s no Christmas Quiz this episode, instead we have the triumphant return of Santa Banter, don’t worry it’s only for this episode.
Then Bob is back with Where Are You Christmas? and he’s looking at Bethelehem, but not the one you’re thinking of.
Check out Bob’s podcast here: https://4fpodcast.buzzsprout.com
A couple of episodes ago I looked at the Alistair Simm version of A Christmas Carol, I talked about George Cole the actor who played the young Scrooge. He went on to have a great career and he even released a Christmas song with his Minder co-star Dennis Waterman. It’s called What Are We Gonna Get ‘Er Indoors? and it’s not great, but you can have a listen here:
This episodes recommendation is the autobiography of the actor Brian Blessed. It’s called Absolute Pandemonium and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

Festive Fans Unite! (send us a message)
Well, the Festive Fans have been toiling for three years, searching out celebrations, rich traditions, and delicious food from all over the world. We find joy in all of the countries we visit, as we continue our search for the happiest and most magical places on Earth. Like climbing a mystical mountain, we may have finally reached the pinnacle. Our podcast about the Philippines does not just describe a destination, it is a culture that embraces Christmas with unmatched passion and heart. Few countries celebrate the Yuletide season with as much energy, love, and spirit as the Philippines, making it truly the best holiday location in the world, and the Festive Fans admit we are thrilled.
Our experience in the Philippines is like reaching a sacred destination. We have spent years on a hunt for the true global spirit of Christmas. We have traveled the world seeking the best holiday destinations, where Christmas is genuine and magical. And, we have finally arrived at the optimal location, which is like finally arriving to meet that mysterious guru at the top of the mountain.
Just like the seeker who climbs a steep path hoping to gain wisdom, visitors who experience Christmas in the Philippines discover a celebration so rich in warmth and humanity that it does feel spiritually enlightening. The guru at the top of the mountain symbolizes our podcast as well, as we both try to expand consciousness, broaden horizons, and dissolve country borders. The emotional warmth of Christmas in the Philippines can be transformative, much like the beauty and reflection displayed by that fabled teacher.
One of the most remarkable reasons the Philippines is the best holiday location is that it celebrates the longest Christmas season in the world. Festivities begin as early as September and continue until January. The moment the “ber” months arrive, Christmas songs fill shopping malls, colorful lanterns light up the streets, and homes become decorated with sparkling lights and ornaments.
While many people associate Christmas with snow, the Philippines provides a tropical alternative filled with white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush mountains. This combination of holiday spirit and paradise-like landscapes makes the experience truly unforgettable.
We also learn so much this episode, as we discuss the Philippian tradition of Simbang Gabi, which is the ultimate test of Christmas devotion with nine pre-dawn masses. This custom is portrayed in the film we review — 9 Mornings — which is not just about Simbang Gabi, but also a romantic drama. It promises to fully ignite your Christmas spirit. There are lessons here, but without being preachy, religious or melodramatic. Much like The Christmas Carol, the story is simple, as it examines how the true meaning of Christmas is about finding your purpose in life.
We also give a well-deserved shout out to the wives and mothers in our lives, and we hear from the most important people who matter, our kids. And maybe that’s the perfect conclusion to this episode. It highlights the best things in our lives — our kids, wives, and, of course, the Philippines at Christmastime!

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!
This week, Julia and Anthony sit down to discuss the made for television, holiday movie adaptation of PBS’ hit television show, “Arthur“: 2000’s “Arthur’s Perfect Christmas“!
Do the elves have nostalgia wrapped up in this particular holiday special, or “Arthur” in general? If so, how does it hold up for them today? And if not, can they enjoy it on its merits as an adult? All of these questions, and more, are answered in today’s episode, but you can be sure of one thing: this is one fun, festive episode you want to be sure not to miss!
So settle back, relax, and enjoy! And, as always, thanks for your love and support, y’all! 🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🚂🔔 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

What’s up, dudes? Tim Babb from Can’t Wait for Christmas joins me to dive into the bonkers special “Andy Williams & the NBC Kids Search for Santa!”
Andy Williams is on a mission to restore his family’s honor. Years ago his ancestor used to help Santa with his mail until one day he abandoned his mission out of frustration. Andy convinced several NBC kid stars from The Cosby Show, Silver Spoons, and more to join him. You see, if 12 true believers accompany him to Santa’s, there’s a chance Santa will forgive his bloodline. Dark!
After searching for clues at political assemblies, museums, and churches, he finally finds the mailman that delivers to the North Pole. Of course, there’s also a detour at a dinner where the NBC kids show the Finnish how ‘Muricans sing and dance at Christmas. Eventually, they make their way through Lapland to the North Pole, where Andy forces the kids to freeze outside while he gets to be warm and cozy with Santa.
Is there kidnapping? Sort of. Is there a funky “Jingle Bells?” Definitely! Does Santa explode? Absolutely! So grab your snow shoes, search for clues, and follow Santa’s mailman to this episode on Andy Williams & the NBC Kids Search for Santa!”
