Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!

This week, Julia and Anthony (once again, sans Thom) are joined by Kendall Farrae of “Two Girls, One Crypt” and Matt Spaulding of “North Pole Radio” to talk the 2007 cult classic, “Trick ‘r Treat“! Written and directed by the mastermind behind “Krampus“, how does this one compare to the cautionary Christmas tale? You’ll have to tune in to find out! But let’s just say there’s a lot of gushing and praise to go around this episode!

So settle in with your Pumpkin Spice Lattes, relax, and enjoy this fun, festive episode!

As always, thanks for your love and support, y’all! ❤️ 🍂 🎃👻🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

What’s up, dudes? Knock, knock, knockin’ for a sweet surprise. It’s a trick or treat! Chad Young from Horror Movie BBQ and Alamo City Santa Jeremy Phelps join me to talk the 1986 horror film “Trick or Treat!”

Mega heavy metal rocker Sammi Curr died in a fire. His local DJ friend Nuke gifts Sammi’s biggest fan, outcast Eddie “Ragman” Weinbauer, an unreleased final album. Of course, per Sammi’s will, Nuke will play it on Halloween night. As Eddie’s bullying increases, he decides to play Sammi’s album backwards and release his vengeful spirit.

Consequently, Sammi begins to torture and maim Eddie’s bullies. Unfortunately, Eddie develops second thoughts about the entire venture, and tries to end his deal with the ghost. After thrilling chases and threats upon love interest Leslie’s life, Eddie vanquishes Sammi with water. Of course, Sammi first plays a killer show at the Halloween Dance and vaporizes a bunch of people. It is a horror after all.

Ozzy Osbourne? Check. Gene Simmons? Got him. Skippy from Family Ties? Only if he’s the misunderstood protagonist! So grab your acetate record, make a reel-to-reel copy, and play this episode backwards!

Christmas Everyday

The Christmas Cousins are officially kicking off the Countdown to Christmas season — and yes, it’s only October, but you know how we roll. In this festive catch-up episode, we dive into Hallmark Channel’s opening weekend lineup, swap early-season impressions, and see just how ready Cousin Seth really is to sleigh his way into the holidays.

We also tackle one of the most important questions of the year: what kind of Christmas tree will Seth choose for Year Three? Will he return to his real-tree roots, stick with artificial convenience, or surprise us all? Of course, there are many tangents along the way…

It’s cozy, chaotic, and full of laughs — the perfect warm-up to another merry and slightly misguided holiday season with your favorite cousins.

Home For the Horrordays continues as we enter spooky season proper! We’ve been sampling the wares offered by everyone’s favorite streaming service, Tubi, and landed on the 2023 found footage horror flick Werewolf Santa!

It’s Christmas Eve in British seaside town of Hastings, and amateur monster hunters Lucy and Dustin encounter Santa Claus just in time to watch him get mauled by a werewolf. Now it’s up to Lucy and her family to save Christmas before the feral monster Santa can devour the entire town.

On this episode, we discuss the film’s found footage bona fides, ponder the logistics of lycanthropy, and reminisce about our own misspent youth as high school filmmakers!

I’ve been out of town this week, and when I thought of an episode from the archives to revisit, this one from 2021 with guitar hero Steve Lukather came immediately to mind. It’s useful to remember that this was the second year of COVID–not full lockdown, but a lot of precautions and a lot of staying home. I gather Lukather is or has been a social animal, and in a time when it was hard to be social, I was the fortunate beneficiary of his willingness to talk and share.

Since we talked, Lukather has released another album, 2023’s Bridges with Toto singer Joseph Williams.
