Hello you beautiful people.

The show begins with a short history of the Christmas tree.  I know it’s been covered by other podcasts, but hopefully you’ll learn a few things you didn’t know.

Then Bob Baker, our self-appointed podcast barman, looks at the meaning of the word Fanny.  Yes, I know, but he’s doing it anyway.

Then we look at Christmas Tree Farm by Taylor Swift.  It’s a fantastic song, but alas it’s not made it into the pantheon of Christmas classics.

Next up Bob returns with Spread A Smile of Joy and it’s been suggested by yours truly.  Why not paint some stones up and leave them around your neighbourhood.
Check out Bob’s podcast, Festive Foreign Film Fans, here:
https://4fpodcast.buzzsprout.com/

Then it’s the quiz.  I scored 7, see if you can do better.

This episode’s recommendation is Off Menu with James Acaster and Ed Gamble.  I think you’ll enjoy it.

Summer is upon us once again, and that means it’s time for a whole bunch of action movies! And in our case, that means action movies that may or may not actually have something to do with Christmas.

On this episode we’re looking at the 1998 Euro-heist flick Ronin! Robert De Niro and Jean Reno speed across France in pursuit of a stolen briefcase, whose contents may or may not be a danger to world peace. Also, it’s Christmas! You didn’t think we’d just watch Ronin for no reason, did you?

Also in this episode: Bradford discusses his recent vacation to Paris, Jonathan brings up Rugrats in Paris for some reason, and we stumble backwards into the best pitch for an Austin Powers movie ever!

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! We hope all the dads out there had a wonderful Father’s Day yesterday!

Long before MAX released “A Christmas Story Christmas” back in 2012, there was a direct-to-Home Video sequel to that iconic holiday classic simply called, “A Christmas Story 2“! Naturally, the elves had to cover it as part of “Bad Sequel Month”, but is this one *really* as bad as you’d think? They’re joined by the always wonderful Matt Eurich of “TGI Podcast” to debate that very question in this fun, festive episode!

Also discussed this week: exactly when we start getting excited for the Ber months during the hot summer slog; new, upcoming Christmas movies and television specials; what we’ve all been binging lately; and much, much more!

This is one episode you want to be sure not to miss! So, settle in and enjoy! We can guarantee you that this is the perfect way to kick off your Monday! As always, thanks for your love and support, y’all!  ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

What’s up, dudes? I’ve got Anthony Caruso from ‘Tis the Podcast and Jeremy Phelps the Alamo City Santa with me to dig into Charles Schulz’s Peanuts. That’s right! It’s the 1983 CBS Saturday morning cartoon The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show episode “The Play!”

Charlie Brown writes about the previous Christmas for a school paper. Lucy is in charge of the school play, and she immediately decides to hold the performance at the ice rink. Linus is recruited—nay, ordered—to sing “Jingle Bells.” Sally plays an Angel, Peppermint Patty a sheep, and Marcy the Blessed Virgin Mary with glasses. Oh, and good ol’ Charlie Brown has to raise funds. Lucy will skate with Snoopy.

Chuck sells homemade wreaths door to door.  He also somehow gets blamed when his dog gets stage fright, Peppermint Patty slips on ice, and Sally forgets her lines. Linus, in fear of Lucy’s reprisals, wings the worst rendition of the popular carol ever. Oh, and Sally gets a new boyfriend. Eat your heart out, Linus! Sweet Babboo indeed!!

Skating dog? Check. Awkward sheep costume? Yep. Hockey Stick the Herald Angels Sing? Hockey Stick!! So grab your stockings, sell some wreaths, and write a paper about this episode of The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show!

Welcome back Christmas Cousins to episode 130 of the CCP!!!

We are back…and this time Cousin Seth’s audio is even properly working…oh these eccentric billionaires!

We’ve got a jam-packed episode in store ahead of our summer hiatus (but don’t worry, you won’t have to go without your beloved Cousin Seth for long as we will be back with some special Christmas in July episodes)!

Hobby Lobby Christmas in June?

Cousin Seth watched a Hallmark Christmas movie…on his own…in June???

Yes, in this episode, we cover our recent findings at Hobby Lobby…Christmas in June! That’s right…we were tipped off by one of our investigative elves that there are already aisles of Christmas decor for sale so we had to take a look for ourselves and report back to our Christmas Cousins community.

We also cover Cousin Seth’s recent unsolicited Christmas movie viewing, summer plans, updates and more.

Sit back, grab some iced hot cocoa (oxymoron alert) and enjoy!

We love to hear from you so feel free to reach out at christmascouinspod@gmail.com

and we’d really appreciate if you’d give us a follow on Spotify and a rating/review on Apple iTunes as it helps others find the show as well!

Christmas Cousins

What’s up, dudes? I’ve got Justice Ducks Laramy Wells from Moving Panels and Art Kilmer  from A Cozy Christmas here with me to talk about the Terror that Flaps in the Night! Yes, it’s Darkwing Duck! The hero had a Christmas episode in ‘91 entitled “It’s a Wonderful Leaf!” DW’s old nemesis Bushroot is up to no good, and only we can stop him!

When plant/duck hybrid Dr. Reginald Bushroot goes shopping on Christmas Eve, he’s bullied into returning to crime. Meanwhile, Darkwing Duck and his sidekick Launchpad trim the tree at home. Gosalyn is excited for Christmas, and can scarcely contain her desire for presents. Bushroot  gets revenge on the mall goers who dehumanized him with the help of anthropomorphic Christmas trees. Luckily, DW happens to be there too.

After a thrilling fight, Bushroot creates tree toppers that can extend his command over many Christmas trees. He uses them to steal presents a la Dr. Seuss. A chase ensues, and DW manages to freeze the garden-variety (pun intended) criminal and recover the presents. Well, he recovers all except his neighbors’ presents. In an act of charity, Gosalyn donates her presents to Honker and his family.

Christmas tree mutants? Yep. Candy cane and Christmas light weapons? Got ‘em. Rosebud? That’s in there too! So don your costume, equip your grappling gun, and let’s get dangerous with this episode on Darkwing Duck!

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!

Our journey through “Bad Straight-to-Home-Video Christmas Sequels” continues this week with “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s Island Adventure“! We can’t even pretend otherwise – this movie is trash and may very well be the worst thing we’ve covered in over half-a-decade on the show. It was painful to get through. That said, as is often the case with movies none of us liked, the discussion is a lot of fun!

So, settle in, relax, and enjoy this latest episode which we promise is the perfect way to kick off your week! As always, thanks for your love and support, y’all!

Christmas Podding

This week on Australia’s ONLY Christmas Podcast Liam and Ness discuss why it has become socially inappropriate to lob up and stay at relatives house at Christmas and why a hotel should always be booked at all costs.

We take a look at a whole bunch of unique Christmas foods that are adored by their countries of origins each and every year, even though we may ever want to try them if given the chance, plus

We may have found the one Christmas Gift Liam just can’t return. What’s the one thing that should never ever be returned no matter the cost, bad taste or dislike. You may be shocked.

Voted the Second Best Christmas Podcast on planet, with 2 eps every month , we could talk about Christmas all year round, and Liam and Ness , literally do on Christmas Podding.

I recorded this episode in my pants….     nice.

First up it’s the quiz, I scored 8, see how you can do.

Next up it’s Spread a Smile of Joy with Bob Baker, our resident barman, why not spend some time with rescue animals.

Then we have another 4 songs that Bob claims are popular in the US, but no one seems to agree with him.
Here’s the 4 songs:
Season of a Lifetime – Plain White Ts
Man in the Santa Suit – Fountain of Wayne
Don’t Shoot Me Santa – The Killers
Christmas Eve/Sarajevo – Trans Siberian Orchestra:

Then Bob returns with Do You Hear What I Hear? and he’s having a chinwag about the term ‘Chinwag’.
Have a listen to Bob’s podcast:

Then Adam Parker from The Merry Britsmas Podcast shares his story of how he found out the truth about Santa, or as he and I would say, Father Christmas.

This episode’s version of A Christmas Carol is by Pipe Dreams Theatre and it’s an epic audio production.  They call it Three Ghosts and it’s very good despite the fact they have made some interesting changes to the story.

What’s up dudes? Adam Pope from Wizards! The Podcast Guide to Comics and The Retro Network (Geekster) and William Bruce West from Remember That Show? and West Week Ever are here with me to talk all about the sitcom E/R! Is it a comedy? Is it a drama? Why is George Clooney here?

It’s Christmas Eve in the E/R, and the staff is almost finished working their shifts. Unfortunately, a big blizzard prevents their replacements from relieving them. It doesn’t help that Dr. Sheinfeld’s daughter is missing and that MTV VJ Martha Quinn walks in with hurt ribs. Jenny finally shows up with news that her mother, Sheinfeld’s ex, is remarrying. One injured paramedic later, and they agree to talk it over later.

Nurse Julie also is trying to ditch the E/R to get to her hot date at The Galaxy. Dr. Sheridan fires her for trying to get out of work. Martha Quinn is ready to be discharged and agrees to meet Jenny. Unfortunately, with Clooney’s Ace around, Jenny’s 15yro hormones take over and she ignores Martha. Julie sprains her ankle and Sheridan rehires her. All’s well that ends well.

Wreaths and trees? Yep, in the background. Hanukkah presents? Yep, meeting Martha Quinn. Fixing parking tickets? Well, you can ask, but Fred won’t do it. So grab your stethoscope, put on your warm clothes, and work your shift to this episode!

Festive Fans Unite! (send us a message)

One Year!  Wow, it seems like just last June we were in the street markets of Ancient Baghdad on a flying carpet with Aladin.  Or, trying to escape from the top of a burning tower in South Korea.  These films offered us a cinematic glimpse into the diverse traditions, customs, and ways of life for people in different places around the globe, and all in the name of international Christmas entertainment.  As the Festive Fans, we have learned so much about the holiday celebrations of the places we visit and elements of their history and culture as well.  It has been enlightening in a way we didn’t expect.  When we watch films from foreign countries we are exposed to a unique artistic experience. These films tell stories with different perspectives and new ways of thinking.

As a simple little Christmas podcast, we have enjoyed scary goats, naked elves, and zombie high schoolers; we’ve explored issues of white nationalism, antisemitism, and sexual abuse; we’ve watched dramas, comedies, animation, and whatever the heck that Echo was; and we’ve touched almost every continent – Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. Each different location we visit demonstrates how the world is so much bigger than we often recognize.  This podcast has been an amazing ride for us, especially with its soundtrack of foreign Christmas music.   Our next two episodes are going to highlight the best of the last 24 shows.  We have selected our own personal favorite quotes, food and drink, customs, songs and films.  It is our time to review and revisit the best of what we’ve discovered.  Watching foreign films allows us to visit and celebrate Christmas in exotic cities that we may never be able to see in person.  It sometimes takes a movie from halfway across the world to remind us how our experiences and rituals are more universal than we think –regardless of linguistic, cultural or geological differences.

If this is your first time joining us, we hope it’s a good experience and maybe you want to go back and start at the beginning.  If you’ve been with us before, let’s appreciate this change of pace and treat this like one of those flashback sitcom episodes.  Pop some champagne and kick back, it’s the Best of the Festive Foreign Film Fans – Season One!  On with the show!
