What’s up, dudes? I’ve got ToughPigs.com Editor-in-Chief and Co-Owner Joe Hennes here in the playroom to talk about the 1986 Jim Henson classic “The Christmas Toy!” It’s the adventure of Rugby Tiger and his attempt to once again be the premiere present under the Christmas tree! There’s terror! There’s suspense! There’s…an empty void of darkness for toys that are frozen forever? Yes, there’s that too! I mean, “Toy Story” totally ripped this off, right?! So grab your favorite toys, hop on down the chimney, and make your way around the tree to listen to this episode!

Lost Christmas Podcast

Happy October! Today’s episode is pretty special – it was mostly written by you, my listeners! A few days ago I posted a question on my social medias, “Is Santa real?” and you all responded en masse… in today’s episode I read many of your responses and talk about them, and then end the episode with an original true story that inspired this entire episode. One of my listeners named Daniel Morgan sent me this wonderful story that shows the power of belief, imagination… and Santa Claus! I know you’ll enjoy it.

If you have an original story or memory you’d like to send me, don’t be afraid to reach out. I’d love to feature it on an upcoming episode.

Merry October to you all, and as the saying goes – may you never be too old to search the skies on Christmas eve!

“Oh, Christmas Isn’t Just A Day, It’s A Frame Of Mind… And That’s What’s Been Changing. That’s Why I’m Glad I’m Here, Maybe I Can Do Something About It.”

I’m back! And I’ve got an episode that demands the answer to the philosophical question; What is Santa Claus? The original Miracle on 34th Street holds up as a classic for a reason and answers this question.

Learn as I go into my personal definition of Faith, Talk about the guy who came up with the idea, Valentine Davies, How he achieved his dream as a playwright, and how his college acting buddy, George Seaton went from voicing the Lone Ranger to working with the Marx Brothers and getting his break with “The Song of Bernadette”

What’s up, dudes? Captain’s Log. Stardate 1987.9. A delegation of Creeg from North Pole Radio is here on a diplomatic mission. Santa Ambassador Matt Spaulding is leading the discussions, and we hope to settle the question of the entity we encountered en route to Syntagus Theluv. That’s right! We’re talking Star Trek! We mention the Next Gen episode “Devil’s Due,” but we really get into issue #2 of the 1988 DC comic miniseries! Space Grinch? Yup. Santa entity? Of course. “Shut up, Wesley” moment? Just about! So grab your tricorder, beam down to your favorite spot, and scout out this episode!

Tis the Podcast

Happy Wednesday, everybody!

Due to life getting in the way, we know you haven’t had a new episode from us in a few weeks. Don’t worry, though – that will be rectified next week in which a new episode will be in your podcast feeds Monday morning, per usual! Having said that, we wanted to make it up to you for missing the past few weeks! So, enjoy this special once-Patreon exclusive episode in which Gerry Davila, of “Totally Rad Christmas“, joins Anthony and Thom to geek out over the Rankin/Bass universe!

Despite the fact that two of the three guys love the classic stop-animation specials, even they can admit the fact that a lot of continuity errors between them would need to be addressed in order to make it one, coherent, interconnecting story. As such, the first half of the episode addresses some of the more glaring continuity issues and how they could possibly be fixed. As for the second half of the episode, the three pitch a live-action film universe/miniseries worth of remakes for a modern audience, which connects all of the specials with a more overarching plot line. The most fun part? Gerry, Anthony, and Thom discuss their dream casting for these hypothetical remakes!

So settle in with your favorite holiday beverage and enjoy this hilariously fun extravaganza, which is nothing less than a love letter to the iconic Rankin/Bass characters and stories! It’s one episode you definitely do not want to miss! 🎅🏻 🎄 🎁 🦌 ⛄️ 🦉 🔔 🚂 🤶🏻 ❄️ 🎀

*Note for Listeners – Some hard truths about Santa come up briefly in this episode, so you may want to listen without young children around!*
