What’s up, dudes? CM Chuck from Just Another Friday Night and Jeff Loftin from Lost Christmas  join me to talk about an obscure Marvel Comic issue What The?! #10! Specifically, we’re digging into the short story “I’ll Be Doom for Christmas!”

Santa arrives at Doom’s castle on Christmas Eve, but is ensnared by one of Doom’s traps. The injured Santa convinces Doom to deliver the remaining presents by agreeing to give him his heart’s desire. Doom does so, but isn’t super stealthy at Avengers Mansion, waking several Avengers who tail him quietly.

Subsequently, he heads to the Baxter Building and is attacked by the Fantastic Four despite his protests of innocence. In fact, the Thing punches him and he flies several blocks. Finally fed up, he begins to defend himself against the heroes, and it’s revealed they’re battling in front of a hospital for sickly children. Of course, Doom tells a little girl the heroes are here to help him pass out toys, and he embraces her in a hug.

Weeks pass, and Santa is finally healed. As he leaves he tells Doom he’ll grant his wish, but Doom says it’s been taken care of. He’s cradling the teddy bear of the little girl from the hospital.

John Byrne art? Check. Scott Lobdell script? Got it. Heartwarming ending? Yeah, Doom’s a softy. So hitch up your snarky reindeer, put your Santa suit on over your armor, and ride out to this episode on “I’ll Be Doom for Christmas!”

Christmas Cousins

What is Epiphany, and why does it hold such deep significance in holiday traditions around the world? In this episode, we uncover the rich history, cultural significance, and timeless stories behind Epiphany—also known as Theophany, Three Kings’ Day or Día de los Reyes.

Discover how this celebration marks the arrival of the Three Wise Men to visit the baby Jesus, the symbolism of the Star of Bethlehem, and the diverse traditions observed across countries like Spain, Mexico, Italy, and Greece. From Rosca de Reyes cakes to chalking doors with blessed initials, we’ll explore the rituals, stories, and legends that make Epiphany a cherished part of the holiday season.

At the end of the episode, I’ll share an exclusive reading from The Lost Years of Santa Claus, my book that reveals untold stories from Santa’s journey and his connection to the timeless magic of Christmas. Whether you’re a history buff, a lover of holiday traditions, or just curious about this special day, this episode will inspire and enlighten! 🌟👑🎁

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy 2025!

To kick off the New Year, the elves gather to discuss the 2024 film, “Dear Santa”! Opinions are all over the place with this one, but one thing’s for sure – regardless of what each individual elf thought of this movie, the discussion sure is fun! Because on top of walking through the plot of this film, they also discuss how their holiday seasons went, gifts they got, how they kicked off the new year, etc. Trust us when we say this is one episode you wanna be sure not to miss!

So settle back, relax, and enjoy! And never fear – while we’re at the start of the year, every day that passes brings us closer to Christmas 2025, and we’ll be there with you every step of the way to count down the days. Thanks for your love and support, y’all! 🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🚂🔔 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

Side Note: There’re some issues with the gain on Anthony’s mic this episode, but they’ll be resolved next week!

Festive Fans Unite! (send us a message)

2025 kicks off in a big way with a big country. We travel this episode to one of the cradles of civilization.  It’s a place with a rich history and a diverse geography.  Considered to be one of the four exceptional civilizations, it has nearly 18% of the world population, spans the equivalent of five time zones, and borders fourteen countries.  We are exploring the People’s Republic of China!  This is an ancient culture that has only recently begun to recognize Christmas in the last few decades, and yet China manufactures more than two thirds of the Christmas decorations in the world.  We discover Yiwu in tonight’s film, Merry Christmas, Yiwu, a documentary about a city in China with over 11 million residents and 600 factories.  It is an area surrounded by Christmas all year long.

Unlike our other holiday films, this one presents a different perspective.  It features real people living in crowded dormitories and dealing with long hours, chemical fumes, glitter and glue guns – all to make our Christmas celebrations shiny and bright.  We see workers gluing pompoms onto Christmas hats, dipping colored balls into glitter, checking Christmas tree lights, and assembling Santas and reindeers. Most of them do not know about Christmas. It is not a part of their culture and they do not understand what the fuss is about. It is a striking contrast to watch how these residents travel miles away from their families and loved ones to live at their jobs in order to provide for themselves, and for us. After watching this, Christmas decorating will never feel the same.

356 Days until Christmas. Each Friday, as I count down the days until Christmas, I want to highlight some other great christmas podcasts that are available. First on my Friday countdowns, is The Christmas Past Podcast.

Behind every Christmas tradition is a story, often a forgotten one. Every year as we put up a tree and pour the eggnog, we’re continuing generations-old narratives, while being mostly unaware of their starting chapters.

Join Brian Earl to explore the fascinating stories behind the most wonderful time of the year. It’s equal parts nerdy deep dive and warmhearted celebration. Think: NPR meets Clement Clarke Moore!
