What’s up, dudes? Jeremy Phelps the Alamo City Santa and Sean Sotka from the Christmas Podcasts Podcast join me to talk all about 1980’s “The Christmas Raccoons!” It’s an ”Inception”-like dream/reality hybrid of pink aardvarks lumber barons and talking raccoons. It’s also Canadian and narrated by Rich Little.

The trees begin to disappear rapidly. Someone is cutting them down, and Ranger Dan has to solve the mystery. As he goes off into the wilderness leaving his poor children at home, some plucky raccoons soon find their own dwelling chopped. Ralph, Melissa, and lazy Bert were decorating for Christmas too. What a shame.

As they investigate, they mistake the ranger’s children for the tree cutters and sneak into their cabin. It turns out, however, that the culprit is Cyril Sneer. The raccoons, along with their new sheepdog friend Schaeffer ambush Cyril, and get him to discontinue his assault on the Forest. Subsequently they move into the tree in front of the cabin.

College educated nerdy son? Check. Raccoon stockings? Got ‘em. Christmas tree Yggdrasil upon which Midgard hangs as an ornament? Definitely! So grab your coat, put on your scarf, and sled down to this episode on “The Christmas Raccoons!”

Over 40 new movies?!? Seth is going be one busy cousin!

That’s right, Christmas Cousins, it’s officially Christmas in September!

The Hallmark Channel has just dropped some huge holiday news, announcing a whopping 40+ new Christmas movies for their 2024 Countdown to Christmas and Miracles of Christmas lineup.

Since Cousin Seth is off in high-stakes meetings with world leaders (busy saving the holiday spirit no doubt), Joe the Christmas Aficionado steps in as guest host to help Cousin Chad break down the exciting new lineup. From unexpected actor reunions (like “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” stars!) to brand new franchises, this episode is packed with festive excitement.

Audience Question:
With 40+ new Christmas movies on the horizon, which one are you most excited to watch? Any dream holiday movie reunions you wish would happen? Let us know and we’ll shout out your answers on air! 🎄🎬

BREAKING NEWS: Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas Preview Part 1 with Joe, the Christmas Aficionado!

Christmas Cousins

Let’s face it – sometimes, Christmas can be hard. But does that mean we have to lose the joy of Christmas forever?

My guest today is Alexandra Walker – and she has just written a fantastic book called “Reclaiming Christmas” in which she explores her story of how Christmas was a difficult time for her, and the steps she took to reclaim the joy of Christmas. Healing is possible, and I think that her book can be a help to many who might find the season of Christmas difficult. I admit that abuse recovery is not a “cozy” topic, but we do focus more on the recovery aspect and steps you can take towards recovery, especially in connection with the Christmas season. It’s not all serious conversations though – we do also take time to talk about some of our favorite things about the Christmas season, including whether or not Brussel Sprouts should be a part of Christmas dinner…

Alexandra and I invite you to sit back and relax, and enjoy this cozy conversation that brought tears of joy to my eyes!

I’m excited to introduce you to my new friend Alexandra. Just so you know, I am not being paid to say these things – I think Alexandra has a genuine good product here, and I am personally benefiting from what I read in her book and from the discussion we had. Here are some links to her website and book, and you will find a full list of what she offers, including free gifts, 1:1 packages, group programmes and on-demand courses. The list is grouped into different categories – Sing After The Storm, Wellbeing Toolbox, Christmas, and Entrepreneurship. Enjoy browsing!

North Pole Podcast

Several weeks ago we asked school teachers of the world to send in questions for us to answer, as we do every year, and we received more than 4000 responses.

This year school teachers submitted some of the most difficult questions Elf Crash has ever had to answer.

Crash surprised me in this episode because he taught me some things I never knew. That’s shows the value in asking really good questions, something a news guy like me should know.

We also spent some time talking about some not-so-good questions and why it is important not to waste time of anyone at the North Pole by asking about things that don’t relate to the North Pole.

We do try to be friendly. But we have an obligation to our entire audience to keep things on topic. We hope you remember that when you ask questions. We know a lot about Christmas and Santa and elf life. We don’t know much about the mysteries of science, the wonders of nature, the timing of a 1968 Chevy Monte Carlo or the batting average of Ted Williams in 1958. We hope you’ll keep that in mind when you ask questions.

This episode talks a lot of non-belief in Santa and the role parents have with Santa Claus. Good honest discussion.

This is just part one of a two part episode dedicated to these questions. We can’t answer all 4000 questions that we received but we can certainly answer more by adding an extra episode dedicated to these questions from teachers this year.
