What’s up, dudes? Matt Bledsoe from Film Feast podcast joins is Rizzo the Rat to my blue, furry Charles Dickens as we talk all about the Muppet adaptation of the classic tale! We get into the creepiness of the ghost Muppets, the snappiness of the script, and the awesomeness of all of it! No, Belle’s song is not our favorite: that honor goes to ‘Marley and Marley’! I mean, c’mon! It’s Statler and Waldorf! Now don’t forget to vote! Check it out!

On this Scrooge Sunday edition of the Advent Calendar House, we venture into the uncanny valley on a trip back to 2009 to rewatch Disney’s motion capture nightmare version of “A Christmas Carol,” starring 4 Jim Carreys, 3 Gary Oldmans, 2 Robin Wrights, and a Cary Elwes in a pear shape.
On This Episode:
Mike Westfall (@fallwestmike), a touch cross-eyed and mysteriously shrinking for no reason.
Matt Weiland (@DinnahDawg), chasing me through the streets of the future in a phantom hearse, and a fee-free Disney Vacation Planner at Matt’s Dream Destinations.
The Ghost of Christmas Present’s whatever-he’s-doing with turning Scrooge’s floor transparent and flying the entire room around London is some weird mix between Disney’s Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Soarin’ rides.

In the second December episode of 2020, I review a classic British comedy character in Merry Christmas Mr Bean, explore the history behind the Christmas Cracker, and check out some interesting covers of Paul McCartney’s 1979 festive hit ‘Wonderful Christmastime’.
We have a tale of two musicians today in this 2nd part from yesterday’s Cozy Christmas Music episode.
First up is singer/songwriter Lucas Morgan. He is 17yo high school student who has just made his first album, called “Get Your Christmas On”. It was so fun talking to a young man who knows what he wants to do and is going after it with passion. We chat about his album, his favorite music, and Christmas! Keep an eye on this kid – I think he’s going to do great things!
His Spotify link: Grab your Christmas bratwursts everyone, because next I talk to Jake from the Chardon Polka Band. Like Lucas, he began to get interested in music while in school. Now he is a full time musician and brings the joy of polka music where he goes. Their new album, A Very Polka Christmas, brings some much needed fun to 2020. It’s the last full episode before Christmas, and do we have a show for you?
Yes… the answer is yes.
We’ve had lots of emails and stories from listeners so we start the show with some of those and we have a brand new member of the team, our self-appointed CEO of Correspondents Britton Wilson.
Then our US correspondent tries a mince pie for the first time. Will he love it, will he hate it?
We also have our first ever book review and it’s for Skipping Christmas by John Grisham, This book was turned into the film Christmas With The Kranks and it’s not bad.
Robins Sings the all time classic White Christmas.
Then we have an interview with the man behind the fantastic website Why Christmas. He tells all about the site and some of the bizarre things he’s learnt while making the site.
Have a look at his site here: whychristmas.com
Then it’s the last of the Yule Lads, Candle Beggar. Find out why he’s the most popular one of the Yule Lads in Iceland.

Gracie and I get together to do a mad-lib version of a letter to Santa, and I surprise Gracie by telling her that I am going to mail it to Santa. You won’t believe what she ends up asking Santa for Christmas.

Slather on the sunscreen, throw on your shades, and do your best slow motion jog as you listen to the Yuletide crew close out Blind Pick Week with the two-part “Silent Night, Baywatch Night” from the fifth season of syndicated TV classic Baywatch (available on Hulu). Chris leads the boys on a discussion that involves grifting, flirting with priests, and possibly Santa’s actual elves. Will that be enough to rescue it from being deemed a Lump of Coal? Listen in to find out.
Non-Christmas topics include: the show’s banging theme song, David Hasselhoff’s commanding presence, how boats work, lifeguard salaries, Sadie Hawkins dances, and wrestling crossovers.
Gabe Montgomery of The Tin Horse Monty Youtube channel joins Todd to discuss the importance of recycling your real Christmas tree, gift ideas for the fisherman in your life, and Gabe’s grandma’s Belsnickel-ish tradition. Plus, Todd introduces a new segment for Christmas Clatter.

On this episode of the official holiday podcast for people who organize meetings with 3 different versions of themselves, all of whom are action heroes, we’re skating on thin ice back to 1993 for a very educational trip to Bluffington to rewatch “Doug’s Christmas Story.”
Admittedly not a very festive episode late in the first official Nicktoon’s run on Nickelodeon, at one point I forgot this was a Christmas episode I was watching for my podcast.
On This Episode:
Mike Westfall (@fallwestmike), bitter ousted politician with a microphone and a self-help line.
Greg Lee from “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” voices recently ousted former mayor Bob White, and boy, am I glad we recorded this after election week.
Mr. Dink’s last name is apparently an acronym for “Double Income, No Kids,” a joke that went over every 11-year-old’s head.
How much of what we see is what really happened, and how much is Doug embellishing in his journal?
The first and only time Doug’s imaginary alter-egos Race Canyon, Quailman, and Smash Adams appeared on screen at the same time.
Don’t wrap pets in boxes!
Why have we been following Doug’s boring, normal kid adventures, when Porkchop’s apparently offscreen building houses and helping car crash victims walk again?
What’s up, dudes? I take a trip to non-copyrighted-during-the-‘80s Bedford Falls with Cara Zelaya from 12 Days Pod! We get into George’s big dreams and unrealistic alternate universes with spinster Donna Reeds! Angelology? Meh. Saccharine poignancy? Definitely! Either way, we do our best Jimmy Stewarts! Don’t forget to vote in Gag Me with a Spoon! Check it out!

Have yourself a Totally Rad Christmas, Dudes!
Today’s guest is THE Gerry Davilla from A Totally Rad Christmas, and as you can tell right from the beginning, this episode is far out and gnarly and… all those other 1980’s terms I can’t remember. It begins with my very worst impression of one of my very favorite podcasters… and it derails from there… as you’ll hear in the interview, I left all the bloopers in. 🙂
Gerry and I get together and we laughed a lot, we told stories, we talked about movies, about the 80’s, we had some moments of loud laughter and deep thoughts about our families and a little bit about faith, too. Come sit with us by the cozy Christmas fire, and enjoy today’s episode!
I share a story a listener sent me about a special memory she has of her grandpa, and then I read “The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry and reflect on the story for a few moments.
There’s a lot of fun you won’t want to miss! Later dudes…
