Bob and Mark ur hoachin as they tromp through the Scottish moors in kilts and tap shoes tae be tellin eh day’s good craic eh a fever dream – the Christmas Zombie Pandemic High School Musical — “Anna and the Apocalypse”.  There’s nothing better than flesh-eating festivities eh go wae ye haggis.  It’s pure bagging!  Yin join us mate eh speak Gaelic, talk holiday scran, hold hands with Thor and Odin, and burn a little o’ the Rowan branch. And we ain’t blootered!  We also recall auld lang syne as a wee bairn wae the Orchids song “I Wish I Was”.  It leaves is pure greeting. Ye won’t be ‘scunnered!

This episode Joe and Bradford experience A Doggone Christmas, a movie about a telepathic talking dog and the children he befriends as he escapes the government agents hellbent on sending him off for experiments, which isn’t at all similar to a Steven Spielberg movie about a friendly space alien…

Also along the way, Bradford winds up explaining more about train culture, Video Game Chat finds us discussing Pikmin 4, and somehow we wind up talking about Day of the Dolphin.

XTC “Thanks for Christmas” (w/ Ken Kessler)

What’s up, dudes? Remember the Brit-pop group XTC? Well, in 1983 they released a Christmas single under the pseudonym The Three Wise Men in order to test out a new producer, David Lord. Ken Kessler from Sounds of Christmas joins me to talk all about “Thanks for Christmas” and its B-side “Countdown to Christmas Party Time!”

The single had a few in jokes in the liner notes too! The writing is credited to Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, the traditional Western names for the Magi. Credit was given to producer The Good Lord as well.

Pseudonyms? Check. Modulations? A bunch. Adding a B-side just so the album doesn’t warp? Definitely! So head to your local record store, pop on some headphones, and listen to this episode all about XTC “Thanks for Christmas!”
