Title: 7 days until Christmas (Instrumental Christmas Song Battle)
Chrismas Morning

Last week, we got Joe ready for Christmas Con — the fits, the confidence, the pre-Con glow-up, and the mental prep for being seen by thousands of people who already think they know you.

This week… we find out what actually happened.

Joe is back from Christmas Con in New Jersey, and we’re breaking down the full experience — from the moment he hit the convention floor to the last “wait… are you Joe?” interaction.

Did the glow-up deliver?

Who recognized him first?

Who did he meet?

What surprised him the most?

And what’s it really like when people finally see you in person, not through a screen?

We talk:

  • Celebrity encounters and behind-the-scenes moments
  • Fan reactions — the good, the awkward, and the unexpected
  • How often people said, “You look exactly like your videos”
  • What felt different once the Con actually started
  • And whether he’d do it all again… or needs a recovery week first

This episode is the real-world follow-up to last week’s pre-Con glow-up — no filters, no prep, just the honest post-Con breakdown of what Christmas Con is actually like when you’re in it.

What’s up, dudes? Motown! The sound defined the ‘60s, the acts brought joy to everyone. Ken Kessler from Sounds of Christmas and I dive into the wonderfully odd “Motown Merry Christmas!” From the Temptations to Smokey Robinson, this one celebrates Christmas the Motown way…with several non-Motown acts?!

Hosted by Miami Vice’s Philip Michael Thomas, the special begins with a version of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The Temptations then sell it hard with a rendition of “White Christmas” à la The Drifters. After the Pointer Sisters nail “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” Santa Redd Foxx and elf Marsha Warfield provide some comedy. Following that, Ronnie Spector and Darlene Love sing a Christmas medley with awkward transitions between each song. They kill it so hard, though! Great stuff!

Desiree Coleman, Smokey Robinson, and Natalie Cole wow the audience with soulful carols. Of course, the Temptations sing “Silent Night.” There’s more comedy bits with Foxx and Warfield, then Run DMC and Stephanie Mills get turns to provide holiday music. Carrie McDowell, Ronnie, Darlene, and the whole crew sing us out!

Tubbs? Check. Roz? Of course. Fred Sanford? Only if he can be Santa! So spin your records, put on your tux, and jive to this episode on “Motown Merry Christmas!”

What’s up, dudes? A couple of the Wreatling Bros—Joe Martinez from Now Watch This and Alamo City Santa Jeremy Phelps—are here to talk Prime Time Wrestling! Yes, it’s ‘80s New Year’s Wrestling with Bobby the Brain and Gorilla Monsoon!

It’s a recap show on Jan 2, 1989, as Bobby and Gorilla discuss great moments of 1988 wrestling. First up, Jimmy Powers took on Dangerous Danny Davis and lost, though Davis cheated. They proceed to talk the Summer Slam as the Intercontinental tile changed hands. Of course, the duo had to mention broke the record of title ownership with 30 seconds. He beat Hulk Hogan and gave the belt to Ted Dibiasi, which was illegal.

Subsequently they discuss new faces in the WWF: Mr. Perfect, Red Rooster, Bushwhackers, Big Boss Man. And no episode is complete without a plug for the upcoming Royal Rumble. Back to the matches, the Rockers fought Iron Mike Sharpe and Jose Estrada and won.

On Thanksgiving, Demolition battled the Powers of Pain. Harley Race abdicated and gave Haku his crown. Surprisingly, Hulk and Macho Man formed the Mega Powers. Finally, Bad News Brown went up against Bret The Hitman Hart, but the match ended in a draw.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the Hart Foundation? Check. Royal Rumble plugs? Every few minutes. Gorilla teasing Brain about cheap champagne? Especially after arguing about New Year’s favors! So grab your brown paper bag, put on a New Year’s hat, and call out this episode on 80s New Year’s Wrestling!”

Festive Fans Unite! (send us a message)

Better late than never.  We missed our episode drop date by 10 days.  That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.  It’s so much fun packed into a few short weeks.  Plus, the way the Festive Fans pine away for this holiday all year, we have to squeeze the most out of our season.  We’ve barely had time to make our Christmas lists.  You know that anticipation can sometimes make things better by building excitement before the event actually arrives.  So now that this episode is finally dropping, it carries the weight of all that expectation, which should make it feel more rewarding and memorable. However, that’s not the case here.

The Festive Fans visit Georgia this episode.  No, not that Peach State.  We are talking about the country that is framed by the snowcapped Caucasus Mountains and the warm shores of the Black Sea.  It is a place known for being at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia.  We view only our second documentary in three years.  It explores another aspect of the Christmas commercial trade — the transnational Christmas tree industry.  Despite it being the holiday season, we are still left at the end with the same feeling of angst.

This film is framed in the shadow of a child’s murder who we meet in the documentary.  It also tackles the socio-economic conditions between the working-class Georgians who risk their lives climbing trees to harvest pinecones and the upper-class Danes who buy them.  This financial dichotomy over the production of Christmas trees creates a strong sense of emotional overload. When the world outside is glowing with lights and songs about hope and joy, this stream of real-life drama is raw and cuts more deeply.  In this way, a sad documentary during Christmas doesn’t just tell a story—it intertwines with the season’s emotions.

Above all, this movie carries emotional depth, especially at this time of year.  While not pleasant or festive, it still is deeply human and part of the shared Christmas experience.  When the season is stripped down to its true essence, it can still be deeply spiritual and meaningful. So it is important during our celebrations, that we recognize that understanding, gratitude, and humility always lie at the heart of Christmas.

In this episode, we explore the fascinating history of Kanakaloka, Hawaiʻi’s island-style Santa Claus, and uncover how Christmas gift-giving traditions spread across Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia. From Santa arriving by outrigger canoe to church deacons acting as Father Christmas, we trace how Pacific Island cultures adapted a global holiday to fit ancient systems of reciprocity, community, and seasonal celebration.

We dive deep into the Makahiki festival and the god Lono, examine why no indigenous Pacific Santa existed, and compare Hawaiian Kanakaloka with figures like Hana Kōkō in New Zealand, communal gift-giving in Samoa and Tonga, and unique Micronesian and Melanesian traditions—including parachute gift drops and cargo-era folklore.
