Have yourself a Totally Rad Christmas, Dudes!
Today’s guest is THE Gerry Davilla from A Totally Rad Christmas, and as you can tell right from the beginning, this episode is far out and gnarly and… all those other 1980’s terms I can’t remember. It begins with my very worst impression of one of my very favorite podcasters… and it derails from there… as you’ll hear in the interview, I left all the bloopers in. 🙂
Gerry and I get together and we laughed a lot, we told stories, we talked about movies, about the 80’s, we had some moments of loud laughter and deep thoughts about our families and a little bit about faith, too. Come sit with us by the cozy Christmas fire, and enjoy today’s episode!
I share a story a listener sent me about a special memory she has of her grandpa, and then I read “The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry and reflect on the story for a few moments.
There’s a lot of fun you won’t want to miss! Later dudes…

Jon bends the rules a bit to talk about his Blind Pick Week selection, the BoJack Horseman Christmas Special: Sabrina’s Christmas Wish (available on Netflix), which is part Christmas special, part episode, part episode within an episode. Can the boys stop repeating jokes from this show long enough to make a decision on whether or not it’s a Christmas Classic? Listen in to find out.
Non-Christmas topics include: saying words wrong, trying to remember Brian’s growing list of nicknames, Jon doing a bit, theme songs, catchphrases, Gary Busey, Aaron Paul, and Bronies.
Anya suggests it is Santa’s cookie addiction that is to blame for his ample tummy. So, Santa goes on a diet. Plus, the novel reveals a payoff to this scene that we didn’t get to see in the final film! Then we talk about the “Elfmade” logo that the elves stamp on their hand-crafted toys (and, of course, was seen on all officially licensed SC:TM merchandise at the time). Join us as we discuss Minute 38 of Santa Claus: The Movie (1985).

Scarlett and Holli are joined by our friend and Hanukkah expert, Jill Friedman. We learn a lot about Judaism and how Jews celebrate (and don’t celebrate) Hanukkah. We (especially Holli) have a lot of fun seeing this interfaith relationship unfold. This is also just an all-around great movie (according to Holli) starring that one guy from Degrassi and that one girl from Pitch Perfect. We hope you all enjoy this episode about our (okay, just Holli’s) new favorite holiday movie!

On this episode of the official holiday podcast for people who hate all humans — which, in 2020, is most of us — we dance to the beat of our own drum back to 1968 and back into the Rankin/Bass universe for the story of “The Little Drummer Boy.”
On This Episode:
Mike Westfall (@fallwestmike), cross-eyed juggling stereotype.
Brandon Medley (@brandmed), king of the desert showmen, from the Star Weirdos podcast.
This was Romeo Muller’s favorite Christmas special he wrote for Rankin/Bass. Also, that link on Rankin/Bass’s website is from 2003 and looks like it hasn’t been touched since 2003. There are tags in the code, y’all.
Podcast favorite Paul Frees provides the voice of 8 different characters in this special, if you count animal noises. Also, Frees following Mel Blanc and Rich Little in the last two episodes completes a “Man of a Thousand Voices” hat trick!
The song, originally called “Carol of the Drum,” was written more recently than I’d thought, in 1941, and first recorded in 1951 by the Trapp Family Singers, the family that inspired “The Sound of Music.”

Ugly Christmas Sweaters are so cool! Christmas sweater parties are becoming more popular each year. This year, people are showing them off online. In this episode we hear from one Canadian man who is the ultimate sweater fan and collector.

Wonder which Harry Potter character deserves their own solo Christmas movie? Or which Christmas movie has the best score/soundtrack? Todd is joined by Anthony, Thom, and Julia of Tis The Podcast, Gerry D of Totally Rad Christmas, Christmas Clatter Blogger Michael Christelman, and April Ryley to debate these questions and more!!!

This year’s ghost story is “Between the Lights” (1912) by E.F. Benson. It’s not technically a Victorian ghost story, and it’s more weird than ghostly. But it’s one of my favorites.
Listen along with 12 readers who used to be just like you, mere mortals only LISTENING to a podcast rather than being ON one.

Welcome back to another week of the TGI Podcast! In this episode, we welcome Anthony Caruso from Tis The Podcast to discuss ‘Christmas Story’ from the third season of Step By Step.
Anthony and I discuss how the show itself is greatly overlooked, how we both had devised Christmas morning plans with our sisters growing up and of course determine whether or not this episode is a Christmas classic!
Be sure to stick around to the end for promos for a pair of terrific Christmas podcasts with Christmas Time in the City and Totally Rad Christmas. Don’t forget to check out Anthony’s podcast and to visit https://www.tisthepodcast.com/

Step By Step: Christmas Story (feat. Anthony Caruso of Tis the Podcast)
What’s up, dudes? I’m once again joined by my brother Danny to talk all about one of the best Christmas movies ever! Yep, it’s “Home Alone”! What? You didn’t know Marley wasn’t in the original script, or that John Candy’s lines were improvised? Well. I’m sure you knew that it has the BEST Christmas musical score ever, composed by the great John Williams! And who doesn’t love Looney Tunes-style comedy? This one’s got it all, especially quotes! My brother and I can’t help ourselves! Dig it!
Blind Pick Week kicks off with “Tis the Season” from the fourth season of Ally McBeal (available on Hulu). Will this episode from a show the boys have little familiarity with be able to charm them enough to be called a Christmas Classic, or will it be too dated to be anything more than Lump of Coal?
Non-Christmas topics include: Macy Gray, Robert Downey Jr., dated 90’s language, surprising cast members, secret children, Brian’s new nickname, heights, karaoke, Christmas movie spoilers, and the return of the Polar Express.

We are joined by the elf herself… Julia from Tis the Podcast! We were so excited to have her on to talk about all the girl things. Just like Mack in this movie, we don’t need no man! We discuss how this isn’t Enchanted and we are confused about the dog and what his story was. Godmothered is a cute movie and yet still has plot holes.

CONTENT WARNING: This podcast discusses a 1960 episode of “The Jack Benny Program” in which a character shoots himself offscreen.
On this beautifully wrapped and unwrapped and rewrapped episode of the official podcast for 40-year-olds whose parents associate cigarette commercials with Christmas, we’re second-, third-, and fourth-guessing ourselves way back to 1960 to go Christmas Shopping with “The Jack Benny Program,” the last televised version of a longtime radio favorite.
On This Episode:
Mike Westfall (@fallwestmike), surprisingly brittle for an unbreakable, crystal $12 watch.
Guy Hutchinson (@GuyHutchinson), wrapped in beautiful paper and tinsel at least 4 times before we started recording, author, public speaker, and host of the Drunk On Disney Podcast.
