Happy October everyone! In today’s episode I share a listener’s memory from a cozy farm in Canada and he tells us about how his town welcomes Christmas. Then I head over to Portugal and share a couple of fun Christmas traditions the town of Braga has on Christmas eve. Finally, I read the essay Old Thoughts for Christmas by Christopher Morley. Published during the Christmas season after the Treaty of Versailles was signed, Morley ponders the gift of peace and the need for kindness after such a horrific world war – and finds that Christmas can bring these things to us.
And be sure to keep an eye out on the youtube channel this week as I’ll be posting a video review of the book Mrs. Claus and the Santaland Slayings by Liz Ireland.

After finishing greeting the reindeer, Santa has Joe hop into the sleigh. Santa then gives Joe a special present. Joe is very excited about the gift and then asks if Santa got anything Cornelia. We question if Santa had some “magical” residue visible on hands and if Santa should have got Joe a more practical present. Join us as we talk about Minute 77 of Santa Claus: The Movie (1985).
This week Bradford brings us an episode of the Viceland comedy series “Nirvanna The Band The Show”. The episode, titled “The Bean”, follows its stars’ attempt to sneak a float into the Toronto Christmas parade as a means of promoting their rock band that may or may not actually exist.
Christmas gags abound on this episode, including a surprisingly detailed homage to the finer points of Home Alone, and The Usual Suspects (for some reason). Meanwhile, our hosts reminisce about their own experiences with Christmas parades, holiday TV, and more!

This show is loaded up to the eyeballs with the usual drivel.
Fist up we have a brand new segment where Rich Chambers, singer and songwriter, shares one of his Christmas memories and then we play a clip from one of the songs from his Christmas album, Santa’s Rockin Band.
To check out the full album, here’s a link:
https://richchambers.com/santa-s-rockin-band
Then we have the return of Robin Sings. This episode she sings another request from Eddie Honan’s mum Nancy. She asked to hear Dominic The Donkey.
Then it’s our Top Ten Christmas Movies lists and this week the lists are provided by the show’s No. 1 Fan Lee Maher and Crick Jimney.
Next up it’s 3 crappy yule logs. This episode they’re from Lego. If you really want to watch them, here’s some links:

This episode’s version of A Christmas Carol is crap. It’s by Sugar Tales and I really wouldn’t waste your time if I were you:
Then we have the return of my favourite segment, Christmas Stories of Shame. We share the sad affair of the year Adam Parker received a bunch of gifts he’d received the year before.
Adam hosts the Merry Bristmas Podcast and it’s great, check it out:

This episodes recommendation is Santa & Ruudy, a great online comic strip featuring the big man himself and his ruby nosed reindeer. It’s written and drawn by Geoff Malcomson and is definitely worth following.

As their run of bonus episodes wind down, the boys take a look at a series from a country where they have the most listeners who don’t speak English: Germany. Over Christmas (or ÜberWeihnachten) is a German limited series that is available on Netflix. The boys watch all three episodes and find themselves in perhaps the toughest spot yet for determining an accurate rating. Stick around until the end to find out what if they think this series is worth your time.
Other topics discussed in this episode include: Feed the Arts, outing people, instruments, fantasy sequences, German culture, friendships, small town living, satisfying endings, grandmas, good soundtracks, and Jon declaring this holiday season “Tight Boy Christmas.”
On this episode, we’ll talk Christmas photos! Whether you take them yourself or hire a professional, we’ll give you some tips to make the merriest of memories. We’ll also countdown the top 5 “fake” Christmas movies, give you a recipe for turkey and stuffing casserole, and we’ll get your thoughts on the best Christmas songs to sing at karaoke in the latest Season’s Musings.
