🎄It’s the year 2000, and Christmas and Hanukkah have crossed path at my doorstep in the form of Santa Claus and his part-Jewish friend… a weird turtle man.

In honor of Christmas Day and the first night of Hanukkah sharing a day on the calendar this year, we’re revisiting some old Friends, an escaped tarantula, a restaurant we may never be allowed in or out of again, and an unforgettable interfaith holiday mascot fit for a new millennium.

Live from Crystal Lake, IL, It’s Festive Foreign Film Fans!

Today’s special holiday show is a recording of our first live show at Duke’s Alehouse in Crystal Lake, IL.  We want to thank Mike and Rusty from the “Snow in Southtown” podcast for letting us use their Vista Blue song “Crystal Lake”!  It was a great crowd opener and perfect for our host city.

In fact, you will hear us thank all of our friends and family, guests and our host location in this episode for their incredible support.  However, we’d also like to do a shout out to our brethren on the Christmas Podcast Network.  These are the other shows who, like us, are discussing and enjoying Christmas most of the year.  You should listen to them all, if you want to lift your spirits and make the year a little more fun, no matter the season or month.

Specifically, I want to single out Chad and Seth from “Christmas Cousins” and Joe the Christmas Aficionado for the energy, entertainment and the beer tasting throughout the year; Jack Ford at “Total Christmas” who is so funny and inspired us to start our podcast; Tim Babb at “Can’t Wait for Christmas” for introducing us to Christmas podcasts; Scott and Bran at “Christmas Morning” for giving us something to look forward to all year; “Tis the Podcast”, “Totally Rad Christmas”, and  “Merry Britmas” for introducing us to so many new Christmas topics and specials, and finally to Sean Sotka at the “Christmas Podcasts Podcast” who covers all of us all year.  You all make each non-Christmas Day a little more festive.

It is fun to know that we have Yule brothers and sisters who share the same passion.  Merry Christmas to all — friends, fans, and podcast family — and may it be everything you dream of and wish for, but if not, try to make it special in your own right!  Looking forward to 2025!

Festive

Merry Christmas, Creepazoids! This is our tenth year celebrating Christmas on this podcast. Can you believe that? This Christmas, Joe and Nikki take some time to discuss a few of the holiday movies they’ve watched this season. Primarily: Red One! Yes, friends. This is officially our Red One episode.

But fret not! We also spend a little time discussing and rating two other new Christmas movies: The “Jack Black as Satan” comedy Dear Santa, and the surprise Netflix hit Hot Frosty. This episode is three reviews in one! It’s a Christmas miracle!

So crack open a cold one, pull up a chair by the fire, and enjoy some prime time holiday shenanigans. From all of us here at Christmas Creeps: We wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a most excellent New Year!

In Newfoundland and Labrador, you can tell Jiggs Dinner is being cooked before you walk inside. Steamed up windows are a sure sign there’s a big pot of supper on the boil. Jiggs Dinner — a veritable melting pot of salted beef, root vegetables and yellow split peas — is one of the most recognizable and beloved meals in the province, and it’s the one that makes people feel at home when they’re a million miles away.

Merry Christmas to all my listeners.

Season's Eatings

Welcome to episode 131 of Holly Jolly X’masu! In this special Christmas Day episode, I talk about the truly amazing 1971 album by the Warner Beatniks, “Rock Christmas Rock.”

I hope you enjoyed “Rock Christmas Rock,” and that you were able to make it part of your Christmas celebration. It’s one of the most unbelievable albums in my collection, and I’m lucky to have a copy.

Have a Merry Christmas, then be sure to listen in next week for my special New Year’s Eve episode. I’ll be talking about the 1979 album, “Christmas Carol With Go Go,” by Korean guitarist Ra Eum Pa. It’s another fantastic album you’re sure to enjoy.

As always, any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If have any suggestions, or if you’d like to recommend a song or album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know.

Remember, I’ve added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you’d like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. I’ve also opened a Redbubble store. I only have a couple designs up, but keep an eye on it as I’ll be trying to add more. Half of any proceeds or donations received will be donated to support the people of Ukraine, while the rest will be used to purchase new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And if you get a chance, leave me a review on iTunes. Thanks!

Christmas Eve has a special place in my heart as I’m sure it does for most, but the reason behind my love and joy for it and a look into what my night would look like as a kid who believed so much in the magic of Christmas are in this short little episode. I hope you enjoy the reading that I hand picked out for this night a few weeks ago by @Jessurlichs, It speaks to the parents or guardians who are the magic makers of their homes, as this year has been my first to be a little persons magic maker. I hope you love it and remember, it’s all for them but its all because of you ! Merry Christmas friends.

Closer to Christmas

Each year, I have made it a tradition to read A visit from St. Nick, aka Twas the night before christmas, on Christmas Eve. I guess it all just started as a selfish idea, that one day when I am gone, my kids may stumble across this, and get to hear me read it to them again. Since my kids were born, I have read this to them every christmas eve, so I hope if they hear it, it brings back memories for them, and the times we had together.

On this episode, I’ll be reading from the book “The Polar Express” as a Christmas Eve treat.

None of this would’ve been possible without my good friend Dylan, who actually plays the background music and edited this entire reading. He is so talented and I couldn’t do it without him. He’s the only reason this podcast ever airs. Thank you Silly Dyl.
