Seasons Eatings

During the holiday season pies can be found on practically dessert buffet.  This dessert becomes a good way to use up older fruit before the winter season hits.  It can be considered a pie or a custard and has its origins dating back to the seventeenth century.  Mixed with a little citrus and a little more alcohol, this pie isn’t what people think of when asked to bring something to the next holiday potluck.  We’re exploring the history and origins of Marlborough apple pie.

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!

This week, Julia, Thom, and Anthony are traveling across the pond to discuss the 2021, apocalyptic, dark-comedy Christmas film, “Silent Night“! It’s a fascinating discussion full of philosophical questions because this is the type of movie that raises them. Our usual question remains, however: Is this a Christmas movie or merely a movie set at Christmas? You’ll just have to tune in to find out!

Also discussed: [HBO] Max’s “Harry Potter” reboot; “True Detective” Season 2; Season 3 of “The Mandalorian“; the upcoming “The Penguin” and “The Conjuring” television series; next year’s theatrical adaptation of the beloved Broadway show, “Wicked“; the horror movie podcast, “Ruined!“; and much, much more!

This is one fun, jam-packed episode you want to be sure not to miss! So settle back and enjoy, y’all! As always, thanks for the love and support! 🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

Will your Christmas Party this year have a theme? We think it should and run you through some of the best Christmas Party Themes you just MUST try this year.

All coming up on Australia’s ONLY Christmas Podcast, Christmas Podding with Liam and Ness.

Merry Christmas you beautiful people.

Welcome to episode 80 of the TCP.

First up Bob Baker is talking about why here in the UK we call a flat a flat.

Then we have a joke followed by the quiz.

This episode’s Christmas Not So Classic is Cherry Cherry Christmas by the legend that is Neil Diamond.  It’s a bit of a gimmick song where he shoe horns as many titles of his classic songs in to the lyrics as he can.  The song is catchy, the video is awful.
Check it out:

Then Bob Baker gives us another lovely idea to keep Christmas with you all through the year.

After that it’s another version of A Christmas Carol.  This one is an episode of Highway to Heaven from 1984. It’s actually rather good so give it a watch:

I don’t have a recommendation this week, so if you have any podcasts you think other listeners would like, let me know and send them through.

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!

Due to the elves’ busy work schedules, we couldn’t get a new episode recorded this week! But never fear! We have a timely, once patreon-exclusive episode dropping for you!

This past week, [HBO] Max confirmed they are moving forward with a television adaptation of the “Harry Potter” books, adapting one book per season and producing all seven seasons over the course of a decade! Naturally, this elicited a lot of excitement online, and fan-casting has been running rampant!

Well, back in February, when rumors of a potential “Harry Potter” remake began swirling around, Julia, Thom, and Anthony gathered to recast the main adult characters in the series for the then hypothetical series!

We know what you’re thinking! Could anyone ever possibly top Alan Rickman as Snape, Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall, or any of the other incredible, British alumni that were part of the original cast? Probably not. But, we do our best to cast excellent actors and actresses in their own right to follow in those iconic footsteps, adhering slightly closer to the descriptions, personalities, and age ranges as established in J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series. The only limitations we set for ourselves were: we couldn’t choose the same actor for a role they played previously; and we wouldn’t limit ourselves to British thespians. The result? Three very different, but equally as fun, fan-cast lists that we think you’ll all enjoy!

So, settle back and enjoy this super fun blast from the recent past you want to be sure not to miss! As always, thanks for your love and support! We love y’all! 🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

Happy Monday, Christmas fanatics! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and hope that the Easter Bunny was good to you all!

This week, Julia, Anthony, and the effervescent Natalie Bickel (that’s right, Thom is M.I.A. this week due to dad duties) travel to the north pole to visit the most famous reindeer of all and discuss his 1998, theatrically released film, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie“!

Does the ’90’s animation style inject enough nostalgia into the three hosts to make up for the fact that this film has all but disappeared in recent years? How does it fare against the iconic 1964, Rankin/Bass special in their minds, and how does it differ in terms of story? And what exactly has that Busy Bee, Natalie Bickel, been up to since the last time she appeared on the show? All of these answers, and much more, are divulged in this week’s episode!

So, settle in and relax because “the mood is right, the spirit’s up, we’re here tonight, and that’s enough” to inject this Mid-April Monday with some much needed Christmas cheer! Enjoy, y’all! As always, thanks for your love and support! 🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

Christmas Podding

This week on Christmas Podding, your hosts Liam Renton and Ness Gibson uncover what causes the biggest Christmas Meltdowns every year and the simple solution to a stress free Christmas at this years celebrations.

Would you ever consider moving your festive celebrations one month forward if it meant saving a lot of money on airfares? Plus

We have the inside scoop on the big blockbusters heading to a Christmas Cinema your way before the end of 2023, and some of the stars lining up to be in modern day Christmas Flicks are huge.

And long time listener Ken Rose has been taking notes on the show.  He knew how much Liam and Ness obsess over the amazing Chip/Crisp flavors offered worldwide at Christmas but not in Australia, so he’s sent over some unique Chip flavors never ever tried in Australia before. Wait to hear the guys reactions.

Merry Easter you beautiful people.
What better way to celebrate Easter than spending the best part of an hour talking about Christmas.

Friend of the show Geoff Malcolmson has created a short animation of his comic strip Santa & Ruudy.  Have a look and share it with everyone you love:
https://www.youtube.com/@SantaandRuudy

We have part 3 of our series about Christmas in the Netherlands.  This time we discuss the wonderful tradition of Chocolate Letters.  Yum.

Then we have the sad story of my wife’s friend’s daughter who’s favourite role model is Santa Claus. It’s a hearbreaker.

Then Bob Baker talks about how us Brits use the term ‘birds’, in this episodes Do You Hear What I Hear.

Next up is the quiz.  Stop whinging at the back.

Then Bob Baker is back and thanks to Christy Easter we have a great suggestion for how to keep the Christmas spirit alive all year long.

The Christmas Not So Classic is Naughty Christmas by Fat Les.  Hot on the heels of their massive chart success with Vindaloo, they returned with this awful attempt at a Christmas song that doesn’t mention Christmas at all.
It’s a bit of fun though, so have a look:

This episode the recommendation is…  get some fresh air.
The winter is gone, so why not go outside and fill your lungs with the good stuff.

Happy Easter! This week we are back covering Superstore! Matt discusses how the first episode of Superstore that was covered has managed to become the most listened episode on the podcast (by a long shot!), how difficult it is to find an Easter episode and how much he loves a certain character on the show.

We’re back! This surprise bonus episode covers the 1976 Rankin/Bass special, The First Easter Rabbit, which despite its name and main theme, still relies heavily on Christmas.

💬 Topics & Tangents:

1. A very obvious and very uncredited Velveteen Rabbit connection.

2. Easter Valley’s odd location next door to the North Pole, and Rankin/Bass’s habit of giving bad directions.

3. They named the talking snowball “Br-r-ruce,” a joke I didn’t notice until JUST NOW.
