What’s up, dudes? In 1988, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” was a huge hit, and introduced us to the titular character. Disney then thought it was a great idea to give him his own Disneyland show! I’ve got Tim Babb from Can’t Wait for Christmas with me to talk all about this bonkers Roger Rabbit Christmas stage show! Yes, it’s “Roger Rabbit and the Christmas Factory!”

It’s Christmas Eve, and Santa’s still looking to hire an elf to help him meet his quota before the big delivery. Subsequently Murray, the elf foreman, hires Roger Rabbit. Roger is in charge of using supercomputer MACS to produce toys. As he falls behind, he cranks up the speed and accidentally halts production. Attempting to fix MACS, Roger accidentally clones himself. After he completes his repairs, he begins to once again manufacture toys. Unfortunately he picks up speed and, in a moment of sheer desperation, hits the panic button. With the supercomputer down, and the Holiday Clock reminding him time is short, Roger must rely on Santa to fix the situation.

New York accented head elf? Got it. Toon Town stylized SkyNet AI? It’s in there. Anthropomorphic Christmas trees and computer manual “Manuel?” Well… So grab your elf hat, head to Disneyland, and enjoy this episode full of Roger Rabbit Christmas shenanigans!

Closer to Christmas

Welcome to episode 97 of Holly Jolly X’masu! In this episode, I talk about the 1968 album, “Christmas Song / New Year’s Song.”

This was a much more enjoyable album than I thought it would be. I love it when a record exceeds my expectations, and this one really blew them away. This tends to be my busiest, most hectic time of the year, and my podcast is one of those things that I’m often tempted to put to the side. When I really like an album, though, it encourages me to keep going. I picked five really great ones this month, so I’ve actually been able to stay ahead of schedule.

Be sure to join me back here next week for an album I spent over two years tracking down, Kayo Ishu’s “Scat Christmas,” from 1969. It occupied the #1 spot on my wishlist for so long, I didn’t think I’d ever get a copy. Then listen in on Christmas Day for one of the most amazing albums you’ll ever hear. It’s one of the most sought-after Japanese Christmas albums, and an absolute Christmas masterpiece. And be sure to listen in on New Year’s Eve for my special 100th episode where I’ll be covering another exceedingly rare album that will really blow you away.

As always, any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If have any suggestions, or if you’d like to recommend a song or album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know.

Remember, I’ve added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you’d like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. I’ve also opened a Redbubble store. I only have a couple designs up, but keep an eye on it as I’ll be trying to add more. Half of any proceeds or donations received will be donated to support the people of Ukraine, while the rest will be used to purchase new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And if you get a chance, leave me a review on iTunes. Thanks!

It’s the spice which is the main ingredient in countless breads and cookies.  It has travelled the world, starting in Asia, through to Europe, and over to the Americas.  It has been used as medicine for thousands of years.  It’s connection to Christmas started with a hermit in France.  We’re exploring the history and origins of ginger.

Total Christmas

Merry Christmas you beautiful people.

It’s another packed show, and we start off with a Jack Ask.  Travis wants to know what the perfect Christmas morning beverage is…  and I tell him.

Then we have a christian propeganda version of A Christmas Carol. It’s from 2001 and stars Dean Jones and it’s called Scrooge & Marley.
You can watch it here:

Next up is the Christmas joke and the less said about that the better.

Then we play another song from Adam Kennedy.  It’s possibly my favourite because I love the idea behind it.
Check out the full album here:
https://adamkennedy.bandcamp.com/album/literally-shrunk-down-and-living-in-my-christmas-village

Then we have an interview with historical fiction author Steven A McKay.  He’s written some brilliant Christmas stories featuring characters from the Robin Hood legend.
You can check out his work and also his podcast, Rock Paper Swords here:
https://stevenamckay.com/

Next up it’s the quiz and to give use the answers we have Duane and Scott from Tinsel Tunes.
