Ken Kessler from the Sounds of Christmas gives a quick tribute to Solomon Burke and Eddie Money, who shared the same birthday (3/21) and shared a love of Christmas music!

After an awkward moment from Santa – that may or may not poke a hole in Jon’s all-knowing Santa theory – the sleigh takes to the sky! Joe finally realizes that it really is Santa Claus! Plus: Carrie Kei Heim reveals reindeer secrets! Radio City Music Hall’s reuse of these scenes! And more! Join us as we discuss Minute 51 of Santa Claus: The Movie (1985).
What’s up, dudes? I’ve got Todd and Michael from the Saturday Morning Mafia here to talk “Magnum P.I.”! There’s an art heist, a military training drill, and that sweet, sweet, Selleck ‘stache! Hawaiian shirts and leis abound! Oh yeah! There’s a voice over, too! Grab some popcorn and check it out! Good times to the Max!
We’re celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and the return of spring with a special podcast episode. We discuss Leprechaun’s Christmas Gold (1981) and briefly compare and contrast it to the Leprechaun horror series. Also: telling your friends to “go,” backing into parking spots, and allowing your kids to get hit in the head with flying vegetables.
The background music includes songs from Altan’s The Red Crow, Bing Crosby, Dennis Day, and the Rankin Bass film. We’ll be back for Leon Day!
Episode 25? That’s a quarter century… hard to believe.
This episode we focus on the wonderful tradition of the Christmas Pickle.
First up we discuss the history of the tradition, does it date back as far as the days of the real St Nicholas, is it from the American civil war or was it just the clever idea of some marketing executive who had too many pickle ornaments left over? Who knows? Not me, I’ll tell you that for nothing.
Next up we listen to some of the ‘wonderful’ songs about Christmas Pickles. Here’s some links if you want to have a listen:
La Legende de Saint Nicolas
The Carol of the Christmas Pickle
A Pickle for my Christmas Tree
Grandma’s Christmas Pickle
Then we have a chat with Rhiannon Cizon from Berrien County Historical Association and she tells us about the Berrien Springs Pickle Festival.

This week’s recommendation is ‘I’m Not Complaining with Robin and Juno’ the brand new podcast from my two young daughters. You can hear the whole first episode at the end of the show.

In this episode, the first for Season 2!, we explore a small piece of some Christmas traditions of a few Native American tribes and how they have integrated, adapted, and influenced Christmas traditions in the Americas in their own special and unique way. There’s a lot to unpack and go through, so there will likely be a part 2 of this at some point in the future.
Today’s episode is short, and no story today. The Lost Tales of Santa Claus will continue next episode with an update on the whole story and what to expect in the coming episodes.

Santa leaves the reindeer on the rooftop to go talk to Joe. Joe doesn’t believe the old man is who he says he is. Plus: Yankees no-hitters; cinematic tooth fairies; wondering how common the usage of the word “wino” is; and a surprisingly dark scene from the book that we were glad didn’t make it into the movie! Join us as we discuss Minute 50 of Santa Claus: The Movie (1985).

What’s up, dudes? The Caped Podcasters themselves join me to talk 1981’s Uncanny X-Men #143 by Chris Claremont and John Byrne! Mistletoe and N’Garai! Hat could possibly go wrong?! Maybe it’s an “Alien” rip-off or maybe it’s just an exercise by the writers to see how far they can push it! Either way, it’s got tons of exposition! Check it out

This week, we dig into the album Lost Christmas, Holiday Rarities, and explore the songs we’ve heard of. Should they have remained “lost”? Artists include Jackie DeShannon, Leon Russell, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Bobby Goldsboro, and Chuck Berry.
What’s up, dudes? I’ve got not one, but TWO ‘Tis the Podcast Elves with me this week! Anthony, Thom, and I talk Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman! Golden lasso? Check. Spinning transformation? Check. Poisoned toy butterflies? Wait…what?!?! This is a fun one! Oh yeah! There’s a bit of Christmas in it, too! Check it out now!

Santa flies over New York City and catches a glimpse of Joe trying to keep warm in an alley. He tells the reindeer they’ll be making an unexpected stop. Plus: Jon has a theory that Santa’s stop was not unexpected at all! Santa is a fan of the Statue of Liberty! Bin has a UFO sighting! More reindeer trivia! And we admire the practical special effects of Roy Field and Derek Meddings. Join us as we discuss Minute 49 of Santa Claus: The Movie (1985).
Happy March and Happy early St. Patrick’s Day! We are back with another month and another holiday to celebrate as we count down to the ‘Ber months later this year.
This week we are going back to the land of Home Improvement to cover ‘Desperately Seeking Willow’ from Season 7 of the show. Matt discusses a classic joke about a man from Nantucket, talks about how Tim has some Ric Flair in him in this episode and, as always, determines whether or not this should be deemed a holiday classic.
Pour yourself a green beer, get a plate of corned beef and cabbage and enjoy this week’s episode!

First off we have an exciting book review. Is ‘The Funniest Christmas Joke Book Ever’ the funniest Christmas joke book ever? The short answer is ‘no’ but listen to the review anyway.
Then we find out about Band Aid 2.
5 years after the first Band Aid, a collection of popstars got together to record the song again, and it could be worse.
Last week we discussed the 1984 version of A Christmas Carol starring George C Scott. This week we have an interview with the man who played the body double for both The Ghost of Christmas Present and The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come. His name’s Martin Wood and not only is he a generally lovely bloke he’s also the world’s tallest town Crier.

This episode’s recommendation is Workaholics. It’s the sort of fun we need to brighten up these dog days of Winter.
