Happy Christmas in July! To celebrate this unofficial holiday month, we are turning to nothing but classics in our quest to find some of the best holiday television episodes ever made.

This week, Matt discusses “The Honeymooners” for the first time on the podcast. He talks about why this episode is so special to him, who his favorite character is on the show and tries to figure out why an orange juice squeezer in the shape of Napoleon was considered a good gift back in the 1950s! So grab your letter to Santa, hop in a sleigh, and ride to the foreclosed ranch that is this episode!

Sounds of Christmas

Ken Kessler from the Sounds of Christmas revisits a topic from a previous episode –  Christmas songs from the last twenty years that they think are classics, or on their way to becoming classics (or, at least, worthy of being considered classics). This is in response to a growing number of posts and blogs over the last few years claiming that there isn’t any good Christmas music being made any more.  Last time, he talked to several hosts of Christmas-themed podcasts, This time, he talks to three singers who have released Christmas music recently – Suzanne from Suzanne’s Band, Linda Imperial and Dan Ashley. They also talk about their Christmas music plans for later this year!

Total Christmas

I’ve been ill so don’t give me a hard time if this episode isn’t up to the usual standard.

We start with a Christmas Not So Classic this time it’s 21st Century Christmas an attempt by Cliff Richard to get a Number one single in his 6th consecutive decade.  It’s not that bad…   or that good.

Our Self-appointed podcast barman Bob Baker explains the difference between Pissed and Pissed depending on which side of the Atlantic you’re on.

Then we have a new segment.  I bought a Christmas quiz game at my local car boot sale and you all get to have a go at the questions.

Then Mike Westfall from The Advent Calendar House podcast tells us all about how he found out about Santa Claus.

This episode’s What The Dickens looks at 4 different words or phrases that are used in the description of Scrooge.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

Dasher Day – We’re Halfway to Christmas 2022!

Christmas Countdown'

We’re back with more holiday action hijinks! This week, in honor of the recently departed Ray Liotta, we take a look at his 1997 airplane thriller Turbulence!

It’s Christmas Eve and the feds need to escort a number of criminals, including the Lonely Hearts Strangler, from New York to Los Angeles. When all hell breaks loose and every officer and pilot onboard have been killed, it’s up to flight attendant Lauren Holly to fend off the killer and safely land the plane.

Turbulence is more of a Christmas movie that we honestly expected. Join us as we examine all of its holiday trappings, as well as how it relates to It’s A Wonderful Life, the other 1997 “criminals take over a plane” movie Con Air, basic cable programming of yesteryear, and more!

Sounds of Christmas

Ken Kessler from the Sounds of Christmas plays segments from the Modern Mann podcast as Ollie Peart takes on a listener challenge to make a Christmas hit (which turns out being called “The Sounds Of Christmas”)! Ken guides you through the journey when the listener first emails about the challenge, and then all the way through the creation of the song, the selection of a charity and the inclusion of the podcast community (plus follow-ups on how the song did, how much money was raised and how Ollie created a video with the help of listeners).
