Totally Rad Christmas

What’s up, dudes? It’s the first of two Easter episodes I promised, though they’re a bit late due to illness! Sorry! I’ve got Mike Westfall from Advent Calendar House here with me during this Easter Octave to the Rankin Bass special shown throughout the ’80s, “Here Comes Peter Cottontail“! There’s a hyper-color witch, a time machine, and the longest Easter egg delivering contest ever! If you’re wondering if a French caterpillar with a human head can drive a time machine, the answer is yes! So grab your eggs and paints, dress up like your favorite holiday mascot, and put on this episode as you drive your yestermorrowmobile!

Hello! In today’s episode it’s all about the Home Alone reading prompt, and I found the perfect story for it – in fact, I’m going to be able to read it to you over the next three episodes. It’s called The Burglar and The Blizzard by Alice Duer Miller. It’s a charming, funny story set at Christmas about a bachelor named Jeffry Holland who arrives home one Christmas Eve and finds his house being burgled. Find out what happens next in today’s episode! Join me for a story that is as cozy as a Hallmark movie.

When we discussed A Karate Christmas Miracle last year, we swore that we wouldn’t touch its follow-up unless we had no other choice. Ladies and gentlemen, that day came far sooner than we expected.

A Wrestling Christmas Miracle has the distinction of being the only Christmas movie to feature the late, great Gilbert Gottfried. Going into this, that was all we knew. Only now can we say that we have been well and truly snookered. Gottfried is only in this movie because it recycles footage from a completely different movie, one that actually does feature Gilbert Gottfried. It’s all very ridiculous, and we’ll do our best to explain it all on this week’s episode!

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! We hope y’all had a fantastic Easter and hope the Easter Bunny was good to every single one of you!

Once again, life got in the way for the elves this past week. But, not wanting let two weeks go by without an episode dropping in your feeds, they pulled this once Patreon exclusive, Easter-themed episode from 2021 to share with you all!

Journey back into the past in this episode with the elves as they cover the 1976, Rankin/Bass, traditionally animated special, “The First Easter Rabbit“!  How does it fare amongst the other Rankin/Bass specials the hosts have covered over the course of the show? Does it fall amongst the worst, or does it rank high like the also traditionally animated “Frosty the Snowman”? Also, why do the elves think that Rankin/Bass had more success with their Christmas specials than the other holiday fare they put out over the years?

Tune in to find out the answers to the above questions, and more, and enjoy this once-a-year foray into the realm of Springtime and Easter! And never fear, because next Monday we will be back in your feeds with a brand new Christmas episode, per usual!

Behind the Bells

“From this day on, now and forever, you will bring all our gifts to all the children in all the world and all this to be done on Christmas Eve”

Santa Claus the Movie is what you’d call an 80’s cult classic. It’s a Christmas movie that most people don’t like, but I find it a major guilty pleasure.

Learn why I defend this movie, along with going into the history of the Salkind family, which involves Greta Garbo, a Japanese monster movie, the Three Musketeers and how the production of Superman would set in many of the ideas that would be reused on Santa Claus the Movie.

Total Christmas

Hello you beautiful person.

It’s a jam packed episode with all sorts of crap.

Want to watch a boring yule log that’s out of focus because BB8 is in front of it beeping occasionally?
Well here’s a link:

Then it’s What The Dickens, and in my humble opinion this one is a gem.  We learn about how Scrooge could tell the time in the dark.

Then we have a movie quiz all about Santa’s wife, or Mrs Claus as she prefers to be known.  I give you the actress and the year and play a short audio clip from a film and you tell me what film it is.

Then in Christmas All Over The World we take a look at the Night of the Radishes.  A Christmas festival in Oaxaca Mexico where the locals carve giant radishes into some incredible displays.
Learn a bit more here:

This episode’s recommendation is Jim Henson’s The Tale of the Bunnies Picnic.  It’s ideal to watch at Easter and features a bunch of very cute bunnies.
Watch it here:

Enjoy the show and Merry Christmas.
