What’s up, dudes? It’s time to jump…down on Jump Street! That’s right! It’s episode 121—see what I did there?—and I’ve got Jess and Eliza from the Witchery Podcast on to talk young Johnny Depp and “21 Jump Street”! This one gets deep! We get into it all! So learn your cover story, check out your locker, and jump into this episode!

Happy Monday, Christmas fanatics! More importantly, Happy “The Batman” week for all those that celebrate! And, *most* importantly,  Happy Final Day of February! Can you believe that, as of tomorrow, we’re already in March? The year is flying! Were that much closer to the Ber Months!

This week, Julia, Thom, and Anthony are joined by two very special guests – Gerry Davila of “Totally Rad Christmas” and Chuck Mireles of “Just Another Friday Night” – to discuss the *very* festive and *very* Christmassy 2021 holiday film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home“! As Thom expresses incredulity that this movie somehow even made it onto the schedule in the first place, Julia, Anthony, Gerry, and Chuck gush over Marvel’s latest – and arguably, *greatest* – installment in their long-running franchise. As always with films like this, however, the questions hanging over the episode are: is there enough Christmas within the movie to qualify it as a holiday film? And if not, how will it impact its final rating? To get the answers to those questions, you’ll just have to tune in to find out!

Side-Note: Julia is absent for the first 40 minutes of this nearly two hour episode. This is because she had nothing at all to contribute to the conversation for the first half of this. Once her commentary began to add to the discussion, we decided to put her back in. *Checks notes* Wait a minute…it wasn’t supposed to be Julia’s audio we cut! It was supposed to be Thom’s! We’re so sorry, everybody!

We kid, of course! It was merely due to issues with our recording software that we didn’t realize until after the fact that Julia’s audio wasn’t being captured. But, she’s still in over half of the episode! We just wanted to give you all a heads up as to why you don’t hear her for the first 40 minutes or so!

Anyway, make sure to let us know what you think of this episode, and this movie, on any of our social media pages which you can easily access from our new Linktr.ee at the following link: https://linktr.ee/TisThePodcast.com.

So settle in and enjoy this fun episode that’s full of geeky discourse and Christmas Cheer, despite the content that’s being covered. As always, thanks for your love and support, y’all! 🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🚂🔔 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

Welcome to episode 44 of Holly Jolly X’masu! In this episode, in honor of Black History Month, I’ll be discussing Chris Hart’s 2015 album “Christmas Hearts – Winter Gift.”

As I mentioned in the episode, Chris Hart’s journey from his early life in California to his success in Japan is a wonderful and inspiring story. I really enjoyed learning more about him, and I hope you found him as interesting as I did.

I’ve been behind schedule all month for a variety of reasons. As I was writing and recording this episode, the Ukrainian invasion was starting. After I had started editing, I decided that, until the war ends, I’ll be donating 50% of any Ko-fi donations or Redbubble sales I receive to help support the people of Ukraine. I’ll mention it in my next episode and in social media.

Join me back here next month for a pair of albums by Iruka. She got her start as a folk singer and is also known for her children’s books. On the 11th, I’ll be covering her 1977 album, “From the Bohemian Forest.” Then on the 25th, I’ll be discussing her 1990 album, “Noel – Fantastic Winter Story.” She’s a wonderful singer and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them.

As always, any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If have any suggestions, or if you’d like to recommend a song or album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know.

Remember, I’ve added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you’d like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. I’ve also opened a Redbubble store. I only have a couple designs up, but keep an eye on it as I’ll be trying to add more. Any proceeds or donations received will be put towards purchasing new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And if you get a chance, leave me a review on iTunes. Thanks!

It’s episode 50 of The Total Christmas Podcast, that’s half a century, wow.

The Yule Log for this episode is from the TV show This Is Us.  Watch the family house burning for a solid hour.  It’s not great.

In this episode we have another deep look at some of the obscure phrases in A Christmas Carol.  Why was Marley “as dead as doornail”?  You’ll soon find out.

Then I share the story of how a friend of mine decided that instead of going round his girlfriend’s house for Christmas, he’d rather drive around the forest.

Then we look at Brer Rabbit’s Christmas Carol, an interesting take on the classic story that is generally pretty naff.  Watch it here:

This episode’s recommendation is Meet David Sedaris a BBC Radio 4 show where author David Sedaris reads out some of his short stories.  It’s a great listen so check it out:

Seasons Eatings

While this item can be enjoyed all throughout the year, it’s commonly created for the holiday season.  It’s considered a sandwich cookie with a lovely jam centre.  It derives from a dish considered the oldest recipe for a pie written down.  Like many recipes, the flavours change from region to region, but the original can be traced back to one place.  It’s a cookie made from ground nuts, spices, and jam.  We’re exploring the history and origins of the linzer cookie.

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!

This week, the elves talk their favorite Super Bowl LVI commercials, trailers for upcoming movies, and the 2021 Netflix movie “Single All The Way” which was not to everyone’s liking. What were the issues they had with it? And what did they think worked about the film? You’ll have to tune in to find out!

And make sure to get excited, because next week starts 5 weeks worth of guest stars! Kicking it off? Gerry D. of “Totally Rad Christmas” and Chuck Mireles of “Just Another Friday Night” to discuss the extraordinarily festive Christmas movie (at least by Todd Killian of “Christmas Clatter” standards), “Spider-Man: No Way Home“! After that? Well, March is International Women’s Month! So, in addition to celebrating everybody’s favorite elf – Julia – all month long, we’ve also lined up four weeks worth of Christmas content that’s led by strong women which we will discuss with four strong women who listeners know and love that will be joining us! So, plenty to look forward to coming up! (Including the return of Patreon content! Just like last year, we took the beginning of the year off to recoup from the holidays, but the bonus episodes are roaring back beginning in March so stay tuned for more details on that!)

In the meantime, enjoy this fun episode! As always, thanks for your love and support, y’all! 🎅🏻 🎄 🎁 🦌 ⛄️ 🚂 🔔 🦉 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️
