North Pole Radio News has added a new voice to the reporting team. Elf Victoria Wassail will broadcast from London on assignment through out the next 7 weeks.
This is a very unusual arrangement. Most news elves are at the North Pole and only work on remote assignment on Christmas Eve. Elf Victoria will be permanently stationed in England where she will report the news from a studio set up there by North Pole Radio News.
You can hear her first report below.
Elf Victoria is a seasoned radio reporter with many years of experience in London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sydney, Australia. She is married, has a family of several children, 2 goldfish and a dog named Lacey.
North Pole Radio News will likely continue to expand its staff as the demand for more North Pole news grows.

Happy November! We have officially flipped the calendar to a new month and that means we’ve moved on to Thanksgiving episodes!
This week we cover our first episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In this episode, Matt discusses his history with the beloved show, he has a gripe with how the assignments to make food were handled and he isn’t too happy with how they set Will and the kids up to fail. As always we also determine if this should be deemed a holiday classic!
Be sure to sing along to the theme song in this episode and hopefully it will get you in the mood for some turkey and stuffing later this month!

Author, Ginger Bolton, stops by to tell us all about her new book “Deck The Donuts.” So grab a cup of hot cocoa, and cuddle up as Ginger and Kensington Publishing’s Cozy Mystery collection bring us a Christmastime treat to read.
It’s Christmastime again in Fallingbrook, Wisconsin. Emily has truly decked the halls of her donut shop and decorated her donuts with festive designs from green and red frosting to snowflake sprinkles. For the annual Ice and Lights Festival, she’s commissioned a sculpture with three ice-carved donut shapes to form a holey snowman, Frosty the Donut. She has one Christmas wish this year—to spend some time under the mistletoe with a certain detective.
But the holidays just aren’t the same without an unexpected disaster or two. A tour bus on its way to the festival has crashed and a snowstorm has left all the shaken passengers stranded and shivering. Emily and her friends open their homes to shelter the traveling families, while the bus driver is admitted to the hospital for his injuries. But the following morning, Emily discovers his body—buried beneath Frosty the Donut.
The bus passengers show little sympathy for the man who dashed through the snow so badly, some claiming he was under the influence while behind the wheel. Emily also discovers that the driver had a history with folks in Fallingbrook. With multiple motives for murder piling up, it will take a Christmas miracle for Emily to solve this crime…

Welcome to Episode 3 of Holly Jolly X’masu! In this episode, I discuss the classic 1976 album, “Christmas,” from For Life Records. This was my introduction to Japanese Christmas compilation or omnibus albums, and it got me hooked on tracking down similar releases.
I was hoping to have this episode out much sooner but had a lot of delays due to issues related to the stay at home order. Once I finally had an opportunity to record it, I ran into even more problems. After recording the whole episode, I found that the input on my mic was turned all the way down. No matter what I did, I couldn’t make it sound decent, so I re-recorded it. My voice was rather hoarse the second time around, and I adjusted the audio a bit during editing, so that affected the sound quality a bit. Amusingly, in a couple spots it sounds like my voice was taken off an old vinyl record. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, the program I use to edit the show crashed multiple times. Thankfully, I was able to recover it each time.
Below, I’ve included pictures of some of my favorite Christmas compilations from my personal collection, including For Life’s “Christmas,” and the two Firestone albums I mentioned in the episode, “Popular Christmas Classics” and “Home for the Holidays.” The other two albums are two of the best Japanese Christmas albums from the 80s, “Mint Sound’s X’mas Album,” and “Winter Lounge.”
Any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If you’d like to recommend an album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know. Remember, I’ve added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you’d like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. Any donations received will be put towards purchasing new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. Thanks!

Christmas podcasts have exploded in number over the past couple of years. A decade ago there were just a handful of us podcasting Christmas. Now there are several hundred.
How do you sort all that out? What are the truly great podcasts of Christmas?
Sure, that is a subjective thing. But if you want a balanced look at the Best of Christmas Podcasts, we point you to a two-month project that surveyed listeners, Christmas publications, Christmas radio stations, Christmas communities, Christmas podcasters and podcast experts.
But that effort selected just 10 podcasts out of the hundreds online to identify. This merry little episode focuses on some other vote getters. We spotlight just a few more podcasts we think you need to know about.
First up is Totally Rad Christmas, a podcast that burst onto the scene last year with complete energy for the 1980s Christmas.
While that’s a podcast exploring the culture of Christmas from the 80s we dig deeper into a specific area of Christmas culture through the celebration of Christmas TV specials with Advent Calendar House podcast.
Happy November everyone! And happy Christmas Podcast Day!
Have you ever wondered if a relative or friend might just be Santa Claus? Today I share a listener’s memory of how his family member dressed up as Santa Claus one Christmas. His story reminds me of a Christmas tale that I read in the episode – “Old Father Christmas” by Juliana Horatia Ewing. It tells the story of two small children who think a local elderly man they meet near their house might just be Santa Claus.
There’s a few other odds and ends packed away in the episode, and be sure to check out the Cozy Christmas YouTube channel to see Gracie and I give some Christmas gift ideas as we look through some Christmas catalogues.

So grab your wheelbarrow of dirt, put on your Santa suit, and take your position around the tree for this fun episode! Oh, and go check out Ed’s book! It’s rad!!

Before we go into the movie, learn of Krampus’ origin in Alpine Pagan Winter Traditions, how Christmas Cards gave him expansion, how the Austrian political climate may have stoped any further attention and how the Internet may have brought him to the public eye.
