Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! Can you believe we’re already at the end of February? Time is flying – which means we are well on our way to the most wonderful time of the year! In April, Hallmark releases their 2023 Dream Book; then Leon Day is two months later, which is quickly followed by the Fourth of July; at which point, we’re on the downward slope! So hang in there, because we’ll be there before you know it!
In the meantime, as always, your favorite elves are here to tide you over and inject a little Christmas Cheer into your week! This week, gather with Julia, Thom, and Anthony to discuss Netflix’s “Dash & Lily“, the adaptation of Rachel Cohn’s and David Levithan’s Young Adult book of the same name! While none of the hosts liked Netflix’s “Merry Happy Whatever“, all three really enjoy this series with two of them absolutely adoring it! What worked so much for them this time around? You’ll just have to listen to find out!
Also discussed in this episode: what the elves have given up for Lent; Ellie’s birthday; Julia and Marty’s date night; “Ant-Man” and “Cocaine Bear“; Anthony’s attempts to track down exclusive “Scream VI” merchandise; and much, much more!
So, settle in, relax, and enjoy with this episode that’s as fun and as filled with holiday cheer as the Netflix series that’s being discussed within it! As always, thanks for your love and support, y’all! 🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

On the eighteenth episode of Closer to Christmas, I asked the question, “When you or your kids were little, did you ever ask for a present from Santa that wasn’t a real item? If so, how did Santa Handle it?” I go over my Christmas wish I had as a child, and talk about my sons. Then I cover some that some folks from the Christmas Podcast Network sent in as well. You can follow me here: @closertoxmas You can also email me, I would love to hear your feedback. Email me at closertochristmaspodcast@gmail.com Please rate and review the podcast wherever you are listening, it helps spread the word, and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. And finally, and HUGE thank you to my brother, Kevin, for allowing me to use his music throughout my show. If you like what you hear, you can pick up his album on Itunes, which can be found here: A solstice night on Apple music or A Solstice Night on Amazon

We start off with the Christmas Quiz and we have an extra question so I can shoehorn in a great joke.
Then our Self-Appointed Podcast Barman Bob Baker discusses the word Trolley.
This episode’s version of A Christmas Carol is ‘A Christmas Carol: Scrooge’s Ghostly Tale’ a naff computer animated version from 2006.
They stay reasonably close to the story and if you want to put yourself through it, here’s a link:
Then Bob returns with Christmas Everyday and gives us another suggestion on how to keep Christmas all year long.
Then we look at Sinterklaas. He’s the Dutch version of Santa Claus. You won’t see any reindeer, but you will see a white horse.
Our recommendation is All Your Christmases a podcast hosted by Calum Crosthwaite. Each episode he interviews a guest about their Christmas memories, covering many years and many countries it’s well worth a listen.

Now all of us know the significance of plum cakes around Christmas. Making Plum cakes is an English tradition of ringing in the Holiday, and a rather elaborate one at that. When one thinks of plum cakes this country’s cake isn’t the first to come to mind. It’s unique ingredients and rich history is a favourite throughout the country. We’re exploring the history and origins of India’s allahabadi cake.
Welcome to episode 75 of Holly Jolly X’masu! In this episode, I’ll be talking about Chris Hart’s 2022 album, “Christmas Hearts 2.”
I hope you enjoyed this second look at Chris Hart’s music. Like I said last year, I really admire the way he followed his dream and turned it into a successful career in Japan.
Be sure to join me in March as I cover a pair of fantastic female artists for Women’s History Month. Up first is Hideko Kojima’s “Christmas On Hammond – Jingle Bells” from 1970. It’s a fun, funky album that really exceeded my expectations. Then join me on the 25th as I talk about the Christmas music of Mieko Hirota. She was one of the biggest female pop stars of the 60s and influenced some of the biggest artists in the Japanese music industry.
As always, any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If have any suggestions, or if you’d like to recommend a song or album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know.
Remember, I’ve added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you’d like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. I’ve also opened a Redbubble store. I only have a couple designs up, but keep an eye on it as I’ll be trying to add more. Half of any proceeds or donations received will be donated to support the people of Ukraine, while the rest will be used to purchase new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And if you get a chance, leave me a review on iTunes. Thanks!
In a kind-of-but-not-really Valentine Special, I explore My Family’s Xmas Special, The Heart of Christmas, British covers of the heartbreak festive tune Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), and more stories of the frontline during WWII during the holidays.

This episode will explore the power of artificial intelligence by asking ChatGPT about Christmas. We’ll be asking it questions about the holiday season. We’ll explore the answers it gives, from what the best Christmas movie, song and meal. We also ask what the meaning of Christmas is. We’ll also compare the answers ChatGPT gives to those of people, to see how it stacks up. Join us as we turn ChatGPT into ChristmasGPT Advent Intelligence.
It can’t be worse then last week, right?

Hello! Today’s episode is pretty straightforward – we finally have the Cozy Christmas Book Club up and running, so I share all the book club news. If you’re interested in joining please head over the Cozy Christmas Book Club Page on facebook!
Then I finish reading chapter 1 of the Christmas novella The Chimes by Charles Dickens. In the story today, Trotty hears his daughters news, and deals with 3 very unpleasant people who could really use a visit from a Ghost of Christmas… but since this is actually a New Years story, we’ll have to wait and see.
